New improvements to online booking prepayments, payment processing, client management, the mobile app, plus more are now available in MassageBook’s practice management software for massage and bodywork professionals

Offset card processing fees with convenience fees

Are card processing fees a sore spot for you? Does the thought of absorbing their costs and how they eat into your income rub you the wrong way?

At MassageBook, we’re always looking for easy wins that help your practice increase your profits, so we’re pumped to let you know our new convenience fee feature is up and running and ready to save you a few extra bucks every day.

How it works: Your clients will automatically pay an extra $3.85 anytime they pay for a service or buy a gift certificate online via MassageBook, and $3 will go directly to you.

How it helps you: You can offset the cost of card fees that Stripe and Square charge and sometimes even turn a small profit.

To activate and apply convenience fees in MassageBook:

  1. Go to Settings in the desktop version of your account
  2. Open Online Booking Rules
  3. Select Pre-Payment Rules
  4. Check the first box at the top of the page
  5. Select Save

And just like that, all future online payments will include a convenience fee to help you reduce the sting of paying card fees.

  • Before activating the feature, please check your local laws to confirm you can charge convenience fees in your area.
  • The amount is set at $3.85 and cannot be changed.

  • Clients will be notified of the fee during online checkout before payment.
  • Convenience fees apply to online payments for services and gift certificates only and are not added to in-person transactions.

Stripe users: Accept Tap to Pay with only your phone + simplify checkout with newly compatible hardware

Stripe Tap to Pay

Super cool news for Stripe users! You can start accepting contactless payments in our mobile app, MassageBook Manager, using nothing but your phone. We’ve built tap-to-pay capabilities into the app, so now all you need to get paid is a compatible iPhone or Android device. And since this new functionality is fully integrated with Stripe, it offers the same security and fraud protection you’ve come to love and trust.

Once you’ve activated Tap to Pay in MassageBook Manager, your clients can complete checkout simply by hovering or tapping their contactless card or mobile wallet over your device—no extra hardware needed!

To activate Tap to Pay in MassageBook Manager:

  1. Open the main navigation menu
  2. Go to App Settings
  3. Locate the Hardware section at the bottom
  4. Select your business name
  5. Select Activate Tap to Pay

And voila! You’ll have the option to use Tap to Pay next time you check out an appointment.

  • Tap to Pay is available for US businesses only.
  • You can activate Tap to Pay during checkout by selecting the Stripe settings icon on the payment methods page.
  • Tap to Pay accepts contactless card payments from American Express, Mastercard, and Visa and mobile wallet payments from Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.

This EMV and PCI-compliant, Bluetooth-enabled card reader works seamlessly with MassageBook Manager on both iOS and Android devices. Dive into the latest mobile app enhancements

Have you upgraded to MassageBook Manager yet? It’s our all-new mobile app we launched this past February, but our work to keep making it better didn’t stop there. We’ve been rolling out new tools and resources ever since to help you quickly and efficiently get your daily tasks done, no matter where practice takes you.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the shiny improvements we’ve recently put out:

  • Custom gift codes: Create unique codes and amounts for pre-printed gift certificates that you can sell through the Cash Register. (This functionality mirrors the gift code feature in the desktop version.)

  • One-off availability creation: Open up your online booking availability outside your regular hours for a single date and time only. Select the plus sign (+) on your Dashboard or Schedule to get started.

  • Appointment refunds: Don’t get stuck having to go to your computer when you need to cancel and refund an appointment. Do it all in one swoop directly from your phone. Open an appointment on the Schedule to start the process.

  • Checkout reminders: Receive a push notification to complete checkout if you haven’t done it within five minutes of the appointment end time. Activate the notification under App Settings.

  • Default color theme and schedule view: Do you prefer light mode, dark mode, or both? Do you want the Schedule to open on the agenda view or one of the others? Pick your choices under App Settings.

  • Biometric login: Use your device’s biometric credentials instead of your username and password to quickly access the app. Set up your login preferences under App Settings > Security.

Design your perfect forms in a snap with grab-and-go templates

Need to build a custom-made intake form or update one you’ve already created? Forget starting from scratch and get the job done faster and easier than ever with form and page templates.

Form templates: We’ve turned the general intake form into a template that includes all the pages you need to gather contact details, medical information, and signatures from your clients. Available in both English and Spanish.

To start creating a new form based on a template:

  1. Go to Settings in the desktop version of your account
  2. Select Forms & Documents
  3. Select Form Templates
  4. Open the Options menu for the template of your choice
  5. Select Create form

Now, all that’s left to do is define your settings and customize any parts of the form to suit the needs of your practice.

Page templates: We’ve turned each of the four pages from the general intake form into templates you can add to your own forms with a single click. Page choices include personal information, issues to address, existing conditions, and a waiver. Available in English only.

To add a page template to an existing form:

  1. Go to Settings in the desktop version of your account
  2. Select Forms & Documents
  3. Open the Options menu for your existing form
  4. Select Edit
  5. Select +Page
  6. Select the template of your choice

And before you know it, you’ll have a fully loaded page in place that you can modify and rearrange to your liking.

1. Sell gift certificates anytime, anywhere via MassageBook Manager

Just in time for the holidays! Get ready to give your gift certificate sales a boost. Pretty soon, you’ll be able to sell them quickly and conveniently through the mobile app without filling out all the nitty gritty details. You can leave that part up to the purchaser later on. Once you’ve rang them up, they’ll receive an email to personalize the gift before printing or sending it to the lucky recipient. Boom! More income for you, less hassle for all.

2. Go mobile first (and wow your clients) with your MassageBook website makeover

In today’s fast-paced world, where smartphones are practically an extension of our hands, you need a modern, professional website that looks fresh and works like a charm on any mobile device. So, in the next few weeks, we’re launching a mobile-first redesign of your MassageBook website that’s all about providing your clients with a friendly, welcoming, and cutting-edge experience. They’ll find it a breeze to navigate and book on the go, and you’ll love the lasting impression it leaves.

Here are some need-to-know details for a smooth and seamless transition to your new MassageBook business website:

  • On October 24th, you’ll be able to view and customize your new site under Setup > Website Customization

  • Your new site will be hosted at a new address (massagebook.com/therapists/your-business-name)

  • Your existing site (massagebook.com/biz/your-business-name) will remain unchanged for the time being

  • Your new site will not be public until you share your new address

  • You’ll be able to find your new address under Setup > Share Profile (your existing address will automatically update there and anywhere else it’s listed in your account)

  • On November 14th, your existing site will automatically redirect to your new address and open your new site without you having to do a thing

  • You do not need to worry about updating your existing address to your new address anywhere you’ve shared it (business cards, external websites, social media)

This is only a friendly heads-up, so be on the lookout for more details and FAQs as we get closer to the launch date. The future is mobile-first, and it’s coming soon to MassageBook!
