Welcome! I'm Josiah, a Licensed Massage Therapist dedicated to helping people rediscover tension free lives. The human body is a beautifully complex and interconnected masterpiece; our truest home. When we’re in a state of bodily imbalance, it can lessen our smile, sap our energy, or even make us consider giving up the activities we love. A great massage can reach our deepest pains, allowing us an opportunity to re-center, reconnect with our body, and leave feeling refreshed.

I currently accept Kaiser Heraya (formerly CHP) and Regence Blue Cross insurance

To use your insurance, simply book an appointment. An intake form will be sent to your email address with a section to input your insurance information. Your copay covers 1 hour at a time, Extra time is billed at my time of service price- $89/hour ($45/30 min)

My Style of Bodywork (what to expect)

I believe in using the right tool for the job. I listen to your goals for the massage, and use my intuition to blend techniques from different bodywork modalities into each session to achieve the desired outcome- a perfectly relaxed you!

Tools & Techniques include

• Shiatsu (Japanese style massage with acupressure, rhythmic movements, joint mobilizations and passive stretching)
• Swedish (classic massage techniques for deep muscle relief and relaxation)
• Trigger Point Therapy (direct sustained pressure to release muscle knots)
• Lymphatic Drainage Massage (gentle massage on specific areas to encourage lymph to return to the heart. helpful for immune support, post-surgery recovery, fluid retention)
• Cupping 
• Heated muscle scraping
• Hot Stone (on request as they need to preheat)

Why do I do this work?

My journey into the world of healing and wellness began with my own chronic pain struggles. Like many, I experienced a sense of hopelessness before discovering the transformative power of bodywork like massage therapy, chiropractic care and acupuncture. These therapies offered me a glimpse of what a pain-free life could be like. With continued skilled care and a lot of self care, I found new levels of relief, and a sense of peaceful embodiment within myself.

Motivated by my personal experiences, I embarked on a mission to help others. It is incredibly fulfilling to guide my clients on their healing journeys, witnessing their progress and improved quality of life. 

Education through experiences

I enrolled in the Oregon School of Massage in 2022. While in school, I also worked as a Chiropractic Assistant, providing massages and assisting patients with stretching under the supervision of some excellent doctors. I found a deep connection with Shiatsu techniques in school, and eventually became an instructor for those classes! After graduation and licensing in 2023, I worked for a massage membership club for about a year, experiencing a more casual side of massage. In 2024 I brought it all together, opening my own practice within Serenity Bodywork in Tualatin Oregon!

Fee Schedule: 

Insurance companies, both health and auto, pay for massage therapy in 15 minute units. Because of the extra time and effort spent on billing, and because of the risk of non-payment or delayed payment, I charge a higher per-unit fee to these companies than I do for clients who pay at the time of service. My current insurance rates follow UCR (usual, customary, and reasonable) standards.
