Effective therapy is grounded in a thorough understanding of functional anatomy and its relationship to the demands placed upon it...an intuitive ability to read the body's kinesthetic signals of pain and limited performance...and the skill to respond in a timely, specific and thorough manner.
As an exercise physiologist and former competitive athlete, I approach bodywork with a focus on restoring and optimizing the body's natural, pain-free movement. While I have built my professional specialty around sports and rehabilitative bodywork, I have always believed that the real "athlete" resides within every person who seeks to maximize his or her life's purpose, and needs a healthy body to do so.
My clients have ranged in age from in-the-womb to centenarians, and in physical condition from professional athletes to moms-to-be, memory-care seniors, cancer patients and para-/quadriplegics...oh, and a bunch of deserving canines! Aside from the general quest for stress-reduction and deep relaxation, therapy-savvy clients seek me out for my specialty work in headache relief, hip, neck and shoulder work, and integrated stretching.
I practice both in my home studio and in my clients' homes and workplaces. Bookings on this site are for appointments in my home studio in south Austin only. If you would like to schedule an outcall appointment for your home or as part of a wellness/appreciation program for your employees at your workplace, please contact me for availability and pricing at tk.myotek@gmail.com. (*I also provide a Silver Touch service for seniors living in assisted living or memory care facilities, and for those living alone or with caregivers. Please contact me for details.)
