Embodied Blessings, I'm Tina Tongen, a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT #MA97820) with an Associate of Occupational Studies degree in massage therapy, Master Practitioner in Phenomenal Touch Massage, certified yoga teacher, and more. I help you rediscover the joy of inhabiting a happy and healthy body.
As a master massage therapist and yoga teacher, I collaborate with your nervous system to release chronic holding patterns in your mind + body. I teach simple methods that relieve mental and physical stress easily. As an Embodied Wellness Coach, I help you to identify and live into your wellness goals, so you can return to your true, creative nature.
My holistic approach recognizes health as a function of mind, body, and spirit working together. Sessions begin with deep listening so I can provide the necessary support to tailor my services to your needs that day.
Tongen Touch™ is a culmination of my studies over the past 30 years—a blend of expertise, compassion, and transformative embodied experiences. Distilled, the essence of my work is listening to the breath, sensing the body, curiosity around contact and movement; the space where the present moment lives. These guide me on my journey back to the heart of healing, and I'm delighted to hold space for your journey, as well!
Evolution of Tongen Touch™
I lived in the Boulder, Colorado area from 2008 - 2021, where I studied with dedicated healing communities that modeled conscious connection and deepened my capacity to hold space and offer skillful contact. I'm incredibly grateful to these communities...
Shoshoni Yoga Ashram, where learned the value of daily meditation, chanting and singing, Ayurvedic practices, and working within the community. I lived there for 7 months in 2008-2009, and earned my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification with the Shambhava School of Yoga.
The Boulder College of Massage Therapy, the Harvard of massage schools, where I studied for 2 years, earning my 1000-hour Certification in Massage Therapy and my 500-hour Associate Degree of Occupational Studies in Massage Therapy that includes “Working with Trauma in the Body." The foundation of my Manual Therapy, Orthopedic and Medical Massage Therapy, and Integrative Massage Sessions is built upon this education.
The Institute for Phenomenal Touch, a community focused on cultivating the heart of healing through reverence for life, listening, movement, and bodywork. After 3+ years of study, I proudly earned my Master Practitioner Certification in Phenomenal Touch Massage. Inspired by this transformative work, The Ocean Session evolves organically with a wave-movement philosophy that responds to you, disarms stress and tension, and invites you into resonance with your mind-body-spirit connection.
The Ridhwan School in Boulder, where I practiced embodied meditation with inquiry to build personal awareness, maturity, and compassion within the community for 6 years. We honed our ability to listen and communicate in the present moment. These practices greatly deepened my capacity to listen, sense, and be curious about what myself and others are experiencing. The transformative nature of my work is rooted in my capacity to hold space where my clients can rest and connect more deeply within their own experience. Tongen Touch™ Coaching for Embodied Wellness includes Embodied Meditation Sessions that invite you to connect with your body, mind, and heart.
The Integral Center in Boulder where I practiced meditation and conscious relating within a vibrant community and trained in Authentic Relating.
The Rocky Mountain Compassionate Communication Network (NVC), where I attended workshops that engage the NVC principles of communicating observations, feelings, needs, and making requests. Thank you to the weekly NVC group at The Center of Truth and Light in Boulder, where we observed each other share vulnerability as we listened for feelings and needs, and evolved our capacities for empathy.
I'm also very grateful to those who invited me into embodied expression:
Diane Guida, who taught me a new language to express myself in movement, dance, and improv, and our Freaks in Motion dance company that marked a major transition in my life from 1993-1996. To Gabrielle Roth's movement work, The 5Rhythms, and Amber Ryan, who invited me to move faster than I could think, experience myself ecstatically, and to Sweat my Prayers. To Melinda and David Harrison, and Melinda's Nature Moves Dance Company, and Maureen Freehill of Momo Butoh, for being such great examples of living life connected to soul, and for the week-long dance experience in the mountains, creating and presenting movement scores in nature. To the Boulder Contact Lab ... amazing experiences! And to Alchemy of Movement, where I danced within the community from 2013-2017, and where I learned to recognize and express powerful elemental energies while earning my teaching Soul Sweat Certification.
