My name is Tara. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and am blessed to have experienced the richness this area has to offer. I love swimming, gardening, baking, dancing, camping, painting, working with animals, hiking and exploring. My fiancé and I love finding new places to take our two dogs and connect with nature. In my youth I rode ATVs, horses, practiced gymnastics, played the piano and clarinet. I have worked in office settings, outdoors, and in a pool. Accidents, falls, and improper postures are part of the adventure of an active lifestyle and varying career paths. By the time I was eight years old I was diagnosed with scoliosis. If I had the benefits of massage therapy during my adolescent growth and development I would not have developed painful compensation patterns in my supporting structures. I first experienced the benefits of massage in 2008 when I was pregnant with my second son. I learned stretches and techniques I could perform at home and received 2-4 massages a month in my final trimester. Massage improved my mood, digestion, and sleep. I was able to transition smoothly into labor and delivery with a significant reduction in pain- no back labor. This was a different experience from my first pregnancy in 2002; because of my scoliosis my pregnancy, labor, and delivery were difficult and painful. In 2020 I was in a motor vehicle accident. I suffered from whiplash, sprains, muscle soreness, and joint pain. I was frustrated and scared when my doctor's designated course of action was pain medications and injections. I once again called to massage therapy for help; it was the only treatment that actually got me out of pain and increased my mobility. This time it called back and in 2021 I enrolled at Bodymechanics School of Myotherapy and Massage. I am proud to have transition my life’s purpose into a profession that nurtures my body and soul, and gives so much to others. Being a massage therapist means I am always learning and growing. I have learned how to heal and wherever my healing journey takes me I am honored to share with you. My massage practice is my spirit guide. My biggest takeaway from my health and wellness journey so far is that the body is the subconscious mind. That is why I like to combine a hypnotherapy based approach with massage. In my observation and experience most of us spend all day in our executive functioning, using only our beta brain waves. This is great for getting things done; but it can translate into anxiety, stress, and restlessness. This can cause chronic patterns of tension in the body. When we focus on the breath and slow down into our alpha and theta brainwaves; we can access the deeper part of the mind responsible for deep healing and restoration. It is like doubling down on the progress of your wellness journey. I am here to create a safe space by honoring your story as a sacred witness, offering unconditional support, and allowing you the dignity of your own experience.
Go on, be a good friend and share MassageBook with them. They'll love you for it.
