"The Lightcap Touch" is an integrated bodywork therapy that features Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure®, Shiatsu, Therapeutic Massage, Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Unwinding, Geriatric Massage and Elder Care. The integrating of bodywork allows me to design treatments specific to each of my clients, from adolescent to geriatric needs. Long term illness, physical injury or emotional distress can result in muscle tension, chronic pain, anxiety and depression. Through the power of compassionate touch my desire is to help you relax, rejuvenate, and restore the balance in your body, mind, heart and spirit. In the scope of my private practice I work with psychotherapists and family counselors at Building Bridges, an interdisciplinary healing context that sees the whole family as its greatest strength. The incorporation of touch therapy and psychotherapy can enhance the benefits of emotional healing, while helping the body heal. The foundation of my work is Traditional Chinese Medicine, Five Element Shiatsu and Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure®; treating the whole body as one system to balance and restore the natural flow of energy. Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure® uses gentle yet deep finger pressure on specific acu-points and verbal Body Focusing techniques, to help release "armoring" or chronic tension, balance the "Qi" or energy, and improve vitality.  This clothes-on method helps relieve stress and trauma-related problems.  A unique synthesis of a traditional Japanese acupressure technique, classic Chinese acu- theory, Taoist philosophy, Qigong (breathing and exercise techniques), Reichian segmental theory and principles of Ericksonian psychotherapy, Jin Shin Do® acupressure was originated by Iona Marsaa Teeguarden. Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure®  is not intended for the diagnosis, treatment or cure of disease. It is a relaxation therapy, and a useful adjunct to licensed, qualified medical or psychological care.
