Rachel Farr has been working as a licensed massage therapist in the Chicagoland area since 2012. She received her licensure from Pacific College of Oriental medicine, focusing her studies on a combination of clinical, relaxation and Eastern massage techniques. For the past five years she has been a private and traveling massage therapist for both the NBA and NFL, currently working with the Chicago Bears as a massage therapist during the football season.
At her private practice in Highland Park Rachel tailors each session to her client's specific needs and restrictions. Her bodywork training includes clinical, relaxation, sport, lymphatic, pre/post-natal, trigger point, scar tissue mitigation, Thai, Shiatsu, hot stone, cupping and Fascial Stretch Technique.
In 2024 Rachel received her 45-hour Klose certification in Vodder Method Manual Lymphatic Drainage. After 2 years of practicing this gentle but powerful modality she went on to receive her 125-hour training to become a Klose Certified Lymphedema therapist. When skillfully applied, this therapeutic form of soft-tissue mobilization dramatically enhances lymph formation and promotes drainage within the superficial and deep systems of the lymph vascular network. MLD effectively reduces traumatic and post-surgical edema, and can provide symptomatic relief of migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), stress, fatigue and more. MLD also induces general relaxation and detoxification. She has successfully used manual lymphatic drainage on joint replacements, plastic surgeries, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, sinus congestion, and swelling from sprains and strains.
As a lymphedema therapist Rachel is able to assist clients in maintaining decongestion after Complete Decongestive Therapy. This treatment is for clients that have had lymph node dissection, trauma, radiation, surgery or congenital disease that has permanently affected their lymphatic system. It is important to note that as a massage therapist in Illinois she is unable to accept insurance - however she can point you in the direction of correct compression garments and self-care, as well as accept FSA.
To enhance her practice Rachel has held a certificate as a personal trainer since May 2018, with a focus on mobility, stability and good form. She is always happy to help you work on your muscular imbalances and point you in the direction of exercises that will support your specific needs and keep you as pain-free as possible.
