Let’s talk about Somatic Awareness!
With an illustrious career studying dance on scholarship at the Juilliard School in NYC, leading the Aspen Santa Fe ballet on global tours, and performing with the Metropolitan Opera in his back pocket, Nolan McGahan has sought out other perspectives for deeper understandings of the human body’s fullest potential by placing himself in the throes of deep yogic and meditation practices and has been practicing the Alexander Technique for 20+ years. Connecting with his work as a trusted dance partner, he worked at StretchLab doing assisted stretching with a wide variety of clientele as he started a Masters in Body Psychotherapy at Naropa University. He chose to switch to the Rolfing Institute of Structural Integration to broaden his love and understanding of bodywork.
Nolan loves to connect with clients to help him understand what is going on in their body. While Structural Integration sessions can be targeted, technical, and engaging (because, Hey! Who doesn’t love that?!), he also brings interoception and visualization exercises into sessions for calm and relaxation of the nervous system.
His work is aimed at releasing tension patterns in the body’s fascia network. Working superficially at first to allow the tissues to loosen up and more easily reveal deeper layers of tension.
