There is no “one size fits all” massage because muscle tissue varies in both texture and tone from person to person. I have designed my career around building a Muscle Maintenance Tool Belt (MMTB) filled with treatment and relaxation modalities that will help any body that walks through my door. During each session we will meet your body where it’s at and, together, create a massage that will leave it feeling as mobile and pain free as possible.
I was licensed in Washington State in 2016 and was lucky enough to jump straight into working at a medical massage clinic. There I learned many of the techniques I still use today. I was so fascinated by the body that I completed over 100 hours of continued education in my first year of practicing massage. Since moving to Reno in 2022, I have felt my massage soften and my ability to add relaxation into the session expand. Each layer of experience leads to another Tool to unlock the body.
Since “deep” massage means something different to everyone, I prefer to use the terms Relaxation and Treatment. The intention of a Relaxation massage is to calm the nervous system. In general this means the massage will be more “flowy” with passive stretching. The intention of a Treatment massage is to address pain and/or gain mobility. In general this means there might be more discomfort in the session and I will be communicating with you more. I frequently mix both into a session and use all the Tools in my belt to get the job done. Intention is everything!
I look forward to connecting with you and getting to know your unique system!

The Muscle Maintenance Tool Belt
Bolstering - Making you as comfortable as possible is always the first step. Spine and limb support is essential to creating an environment in which the body feels safe enough to effect change.
Passive Stretching - Stretching is integrated into almost every session.
Silicone Cupping - suction is used instead of pressure to release the shortened muscles and trigger points that cause tension. This is a very effective Tool that opens up the stabilizing muscles and holds down fascial lines to deepen stretching. **cupping can leave marks for 3-10 days, especially on those who bruise easily.
Neuro-Muscular Reeducation (NMR) - addresses fascial line dysfunction by having the client make small movements during the session. This deepens the release of the entire fascial line, increases mobility in muscles and also addresses trigger points. This work can be "pinchy" in the moment but leaves you less sore the next day.
Intra-oral - a gloved hand goes inside the mouth to release the jaw and TMJ. The session is upper body focused as I work to open up the shoulders and neck before the jaw. This is a wonderful Tool for migraines, chronic tension headaches, TMJ disorders and dental trauma.
Gua sha (Scrapping) - a flat obsidian stone is used to scrape along scars or dense fascial lines in order to manually open the tissue. This can leave behind mild redness for a few hours after.
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) - the lymph system sits at the top of the epidermis so only light pressure is needed to open up the major lymph node areas and gently push the lymph towards those areas. **extra hydration is recommended before this type of work
Pregnancy, Pre/Post - the focus is comfort as I work to bolster both baby and mom in the most relaxing ways possible. Postnatal massage is often overlooked but is just as important as prenatal. It can help new moms reconnect with their body and recover from birth trauma.
The Muscle Maintenance Tool Belt is integrated, as needed, into every session. Questions regarding Modalities are always welcome!
"I have been visiting Ryder once a month for a massage going on at least two years now. I use Monthly Massage as part of my pain management regimen so I can avoid opiates and addictions. Ryder has been very accommodating to my specific needs and hot spots. I have degenerative arthritis in my neck, back and shoulders. She's able to expertly find and work out the muscle cramps built up around my bad joints. I also play in a few sporting leagues, and she's able to customize each visit for those specific needs too. Our 90 minutes together is one of the highlights of my month!" -Tom C.
"Stryder is, by far, one of the best massage therapists I have ever encountered. Their treatment of the body is so much more then just muscle massage, it's targeted therepy that alleviates pain by focusing on the source of the discomfort. Usually I feel relaxed for a few hours after a massage, but with Stryder I have noticed that my low back and hips feel better for serveral days after. I'm willing to bet my friends and family are tired of me saying "You should go see Stryder!" ever time they complain of body pain but I sincerly want everyone to feel as great as I do after each session. So...go see Stryder!" -Elizabeth N.
