Corey Rowland (NCLMBT #23009) grew up in Tampa, Florida. As an adolescent Corey found himself split between what felt like different worlds, playing sports and also excelling as an art student. He enjoyed the physical challenge and stimulation of athletics, and the intuitiveness and exploratory nature of art.
He studied Studio Art and Art Education at Florida State University and worked as a public school art teacher for about 8 years. Through working with young people Corey developed a faculty of listening. Every student required something a little different, and tuning into that required patience and curiosity. Working as an educator also trained Corey to be a lifelong learner.
As he learned and grew professionally, Corey also navigated various experiences in his personal life that shaped him into the practitioner he is now. Corey gains a lot of inspiration from the natural world, which includes animals. While a tree or a deer can't "talk", Corey sees them as possessing great intelligence and wisdom that humanity can learn from. His experiences with yoga and meditation have instilled values of kindess, balance, and service.
Corey completed his massage and bodywork education at the Western North Carolina School of Massage (WNCSOM) in Asheville, North Carolina. While he had an investment in health and wellness prior to massage school, this experience ignited a passion for holistic health. In particular, Corey is interested in the concept of aging well. He lost all of his grandparents by the time he was about 16 years old, all to diseases that are heavily influenced by lifestyle choices. Corey sees his work as a contribution to a cultural shift in which people are empowered to live their fullest, longest lives possible.
