Meet Mary: Your Northampton-Based Lymphatic and Therapeutic Massage Therapist
Mary Gabis, M.S. Ed., LMT, C-MLDT, CPT, CYT, is a licensed massage therapist, certified manual lymphatic drainage therapist, certified personal trainer, and 200-hour yoga teacher. With over 20 years of experience in dance and somatics, she brings an intuitive understanding of anatomy, movement, and body awareness to each session. Her practice blends experiential and evidence-based techniques with a compassionate, grounded presence, creating an experience that feels both restorative and empowering.
Mary’s own healing journey began in 2018, when massage therapy and lymphatic work helped regulate her nervous system, reduce inflammation, and ease chronic illness symptoms. That transformation inspired her to create Iridescence Healing Arts, a space where clients receive holistic support through gentle yet effective hands-on care. Her work has been recognized with Best of the Valley awards in both 2024 and 2025.
Offerings at Iridescence Healing Arts
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
Also known as lymph drainage massage or lymph massage, this gentle, rhythmic technique stimulates lymph flow to reduce swelling, support detoxification, and promote recovery and immune support. Manual lymphatic drainage is especially beneficial for post-surgery recovery, surgery preparation, cosmetic and orthopedic procedures, TMJ dysfunction, fatigue, sinus congestion, and postpartum healing.
MLD also supports chronic illness management, inflammation reduction, improved immune function, and relief from headaches, congestion, sleep disruption, and fluid retention. Each session is adapted to your needs, using a whole-body approach that calms the nervous system while restoring internal balance and supporting natural healing.
Therapeutic Massage
Professional therapeutic massage sessions are tailored to your individual goals. Whether addressing muscle tension, improving mobility, or supporting relaxation, Mary integrates deep tissue, myofascial, and somatic techniques using light to moderate pressure.
Sessions relieve pain, support injury recovery, restore balance, and improve postural alignment. Clients also receive guidance in body awareness so results extend beyond the massage table, helping reset patterns of tension while enhancing mobility and grounded presence in daily life.
Sound Therapy / Sound Bathing
Sound therapy harnesses the vibrational frequencies of Himalayan singing bowls, tuning forks, and harmonic instruments to support gentle lymphatic movement, support nervous system regulation, and deepen states of rest. This modality is especially beneficial for stress relief, sleep support, and emotional grounding during life transitions.
Prenatal Massage
Gentle, nurturing care for pregnancy focused on easing muscular discomfort, improving circulation, and supporting the body through natural changes during the second and third trimesters. Sessions relieve tension in the back, hips, and legs while fostering relaxation and connection to self.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST)
Craniosacral techniques are thoughtfully integrated into sessions to support alignment, fluid movement, and nervous system regulation. While not offered as a standalone service, CST complements massage by providing subtle yet profound recalibration for body and mind.
Reiki Energy Healing
This light-touch (or touch free) energy modality promotes balance and integration on physical, emotional, and energetic levels. Reiki sessions may be combined with massage or sound therapy for a more holistic and grounding experience.
Integrative Intuitive Sessions
For those seeking a multidimensional approach, Mary offers fully customized sessions blending lymphatic drainage, therapeutic massage, Reiki, CST, and sound healing—creating an experience that is restorative, intuitive, and deeply personal. Contact directly to inquire about this kind of session.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. How is it determined if Mary is the right fit?
The intake process includes a thoughtful discussion about your goals, preferences, and health considerations. I offer a complimentary phone consultation before your session to ensure my services align with your needs. If we decide your goals are outside my scope, I will happily refer you to or recommend other trusted professionals.
2. Which service is right for me?
If you’re unsure where to begin, I can guide you through the benefits of each service. You’ll also find detailed descriptions on the service menu for further insight. Whether you’re interested in lymphatic drainage massage, Craniosacral Therapy, or Reiki, I am happy to help you choose the best approach for your current needs.
3. What can I expect at the first appointment?
Iridescence Healing Arts is located inside Sanctuary on the third floor of Thornes Marketplace in Northampton, MA. I’ll meet you in the hallway across from the elevator and welcome you into the space. The session begins with a brief check in about your present goals, areas of tension, and any questions you may have that day. If receiving therapeutic massage, you’ll undress to your level of comfort and lie under a sheet and blanket. I’ll knock before re-entering to ensure you’re ready. Music is optional at your discretion, and I always check in throughout the session to make sure you’re comfortable.
4. What is trauma-informed massage therapy?
This approach focuses on creating a safe, empowering, and collaborative experience. I emphasize sensitivity, clear communication, and client choice. Each step of the session is explained, choices are offered for verbal or non-verbal feedback, and our professional working boundaries are always respected, ensuring full body coverage except for the area receiving work at that time.
5. What does it mean to undress to my level of comfort during a massage?
You can choose to remain fully clothed, wear minimal clothing, or disrobe completely, whichever feels right for you. I’ll adapt the session to your choice, ensuring that only the specific area being treated is uncovered at any time.
6. How do I prepare for my appointment?
Hydration, light nourishment, and comfortable clothing help create a relaxed experience. Arriving a few minutes early allows you time to settle in and ensures we can begin promptly.
7. What aftercare is recommended?
After your session, I’ll offer personalized aftercare suggestions. In general, staying hydrated and allowing yourself time to rest are helpful. Gentle activities and quiet environments are especially beneficial following energy work and lymphatic massage.
8. What are the payment and gratuity options?
Cash and check are preferred methods of payment; credit and debit cards (through Square), PayPal, and Venmo are accepted. Gratuity is appreciated but not expected. Sharing positive experiences through reviews on Massagebook.com and Google or referrals to your loved ones is a wonderful way to show your appreciation. Referrals receive a discounted future session.
9. Does Mary accept insurance?
I don’t accept insurance at this time, but I can provide an invoice for those seeking reimbursement from their insurance provider. Policies vary, so it’s best to confirm details with your provider.
10. How can I get in touch with Mary before an appointment?
Feel free to reach out via email at iridescencehealingarts@gmail.com, by phone at (413) 437-0898, or through messages on MassageBook.com. I’m happy to answer questions or provide additional information. Se habla español.
11. Cancellation and Late Arrival Policy: Because appointment times are limited with specific times often in high demand, your session time is thoughtfully reserved just for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a fee. Cancellations made within 24 hours, missed appointments, and no-shows are charged the full session fee. When possible, 48 hours’ courtesy notice is sincerely appreciated, as it allows the time reserved to be offered to another person with adequate notice. If you begin experiencing symptoms of illness and have an upcoming session, please contact me as soon as possible so we can decide the best next step together. If you arrive late, your session will still end at the scheduled time in order to respect the time of the next appointment. Arrivals more than 20 minutes late may be charged in full. When applicable, refunds are issued minus credit card processing fees, or may be applied as an account credit with no processing fee.
12. Miscellaneous logistics: There is an elevator in the building to the third floor and and an electric lift table to accommodate a range of diverse needs. A scent free space is intended but not guaranteed due to the nature of a larger shared professional space. If you do not see a time that works for your schedule or have worked with me prior and are in need of a short notice appointment, please feel free to reach out - I will do my best to try and accommodate you! Logistics on parking and locating the office inside Thornes are sent in the confirmation email upon booking.
