Rest, Rejuvenate, and Renew this spring in our 1930s home!
Coming April 15th-May 31st.
Step away from the lingering winter chill and into a season of pure, vibrant renewal. This spring, our cozy 1930s home transforms into a sanctuary dedicated to shedding the old and inviting the new.
We invite you to slow down, breathe deeply, and immerse yourself in our exclusive spring theme: The Art of Awakening. Here, we combine the charm of our antique-filled rooms with deep therapeutic care to help you bloom from the inside out.
AFTER CARE & PREPARATION
- WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY FIRST VISIT? Your first session begins with a brief consultation to discuss your health history and goals for the day. This ensures the treatment is safe and effective for your specific needs.
- WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN I ARRIVE? When you arrive at the house, please come right in through the front door! You’ll find yourself in our entry hall and apothecary space. Please feel free to have a seat and make yourself comfortable in the lobby area. I will come out to greet you and bring you back to the treatment room at your scheduled appointment time.
- SHOULD I TIP MY MASSAGE THERAPIST? While never expected, gratuities are always appreciated as a reflection of your satisfaction with the service.
- DO I NEED TO UNDRESS COMPLETELY? You should undress to your level of comfort. Many clients leave their undergarments on, while others undress completely. You will be professionally draped with a sheet at all times, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered.
- HOW EARLY SHOULD I ARRIVE? Please arrive about 5–10 minutes before your scheduled time. This allows you to settle in and complete any necessary paperwork without rushing into your session.
- IS IT NORMAL TO BE SORE AFTER A MASSAGE? Yes, it is very common to feel some mild soreness or "therapeutic inflammation" for 24 to 48 hours after a session, especially after deep tissue or focused structural work. Think of it like the feeling you get after a good workout—your muscles have been moved and manipulated in ways they aren't used to. This is a normal part of the body’s healing process.
WHY IS HYDRATION SO IMPORTANT? Staying hydrated before and after your session is essential. Massage increases circulation and moves fluid through your system; drinking plenty of water helps your body process the changes and can significantly reduce the "post-massage soreness" mentioned above. Aim to drink an extra glass or two of water for the remainder of the day following your appointment
PRACTICAL LOGISTICS & POLICIES
- CAN I TALK DURING MY MASSAGE? This is your time! If you prefer to chat, we are happy to engage. If you prefer a "silent session" to fully drift off, that is perfectly fine too. We will always check in periodically regarding pressure and comfort, but the level of social interaction is entirely up to you.
- WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SWEDISH AND DEEP TISSUE? Swedish massage focuses on relaxation and increasing circulation using long, flowing strokes. Deep Tissue targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to address chronic tension and "knots." We can always blend these styles based on your preference.
- DOES DEEP TISSUE HAVE TO HURT TO BE EFFECTIVE? Absolutely not. There is a common myth that "more pain equals more gain," but effective bodywork should never feel like a struggle. While you may experience "productive discomfort" (that "good hurt" feeling), if the pressure causes you to hold your breath or tense up, it actually works against the session. We always encourage open communication to find the "sweet spot" that is deep enough to be effective but gentle enough for your body to accept.
- ARE THERE ANY CONDITIONS WHERE MASSAGE IS NOT RECOMMENDED? While massage is generally safe, certain conditions (like recent surgeries, blood clots, or specific skin infections) may require a doctor’s note or a modification of the treatment. If you have a specific medical concern, please reach out before your appointment so we can discuss the best approach.
- WHAT IF I AM FEELING UNDER THE WEATHER? If you have a fever, a contagious cold, or are feeling generally unwell, please reschedule your appointment. Massage can actually move illness through your system faster, making you feel worse, and we want to keep our studio a healthy space for everyone.
- WHAT IS YOUR POLICY ON INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR? We maintain a strict Zero-Tolerance Policy. Massage therapy is strictly non-sexual and therapeutic. Any suggestive remarks, advances, or inappropriate gestures will result in the immediate termination of the session at the full cost of the service. Depending on the severity, a report may also be filed with local authorities.
- WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY? We value your time and ours. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee.
