About me:
I am Andie Wolfden (they/he), and I am a Certified Massage Therapist, Neuromuscular Therapist, and Health Educator. I graduated from the National Holistic Institute College of Massage Therapy in 2025 with recognition for academic achievement. Before starting my career in massage therapy, I earned a bachelor's in biology and spent time working in medical and research labs. I have always had an interest in anatomy and physiology which has served me well while transitioning into massage.
My Mission:
My passion is in creating a safe and affirming environment for everyone to experience the benefits of massage. Our bodies are politicized and constantly under scrutiny, which can make it hard to be vulnerable and seek out the care that we deserve. In my practice, you are safe to be yourself and people of all identities are welcome.
My Practice:
I am trained in Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Therapy, Swedish Massage and Shiatsu with a variety of accessory modalities, however instead of choosing a modality at booking, we will discuss your individual needs and goals to determine what treatments will be best for you. Independently, I only offer mobile massage, meaning that I will bring my gear to you. Because of this you will need to be able to provide a space that is large enough to accommodate a massage table with a couple feet of clearance around the sides, approximately 10'x7' minimum. For both of our safety and peace of mind, I require that new clients meet with me for a "session zero" in a public location where we will get to know each other, determine if my practice is a good fit for you, and come up with a strategy for our sessions.
For a more traditional studio setting, you can find me at A Room Of Our Own located in Davis, CA.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Do you offer a sliding scale? Yes. Keeping my practice affordable to those who need it is important to me. Massage therapy can offer great benefits, and I do not want to see it confined to being a "luxury service". If you are in need or curious about what massage can do for you, but can't afford regular sessions, please reach out to me and we can discuss some options.
How do I prepare for a massage? Since I am a mobile therapist, I will be bringing my equipment to you, so if you can prepare your space ahead of your appointment, we will have more time for bodywork. I recommend having a space cleared for a massage table in a room or area where you can have privacy while getting on and off the table. Because of the proximity and hands on nature of massage, I ask that you come to your appointments clean and scent free as much as possible.
Do I need to be fully disrobed? No. I prefer to work directly on skin as it gives me more options to engage with the tissue and feel what is going on, but it is absolutely possible to do good work while fully clothed. During "session zero" we will have time to talk about strategy including any accommodations that need to be made for your comfort.
What do I do during a massage? This is a great question! Receiving a massage is a skill of its own and it is always ok to ask clarifying questions. I will give you directions on getting onto the table and assist you with positioning. During the bodywork, your job is to relax as best as you can and tell me what you are feeling. I need to know if something is painful or causes unexpected sensations as well as if something feels good or productive; this will help me to maximize the effectiveness of our sessions and get you long lasting results.
