About Me: Hi! I’m Phoebe! I’ve had a body for 27 years now, and I’ve always enjoyed exploring its possibilities. As a child, you could find me reading a book with a leg behind my head, practicing handstands for hours in the living room, or seeing how long I could hold my breath underwater in hopes I’d turn into a mermaid. As an adult, I’m continuously amazed by what our bodies can do with awareness, curiosity, and playfulness.
How Bodywork Helped Me: When an injury or trauma blocks our ability to feel safe to be present in our bodies, the toll it takes on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health can be anywhere from subtly harmful to completely devastating. At the beginning of my healing journey, I felt lost: limited by my body’s capacity, even escaping through full dissociation. I struggled with debilitating chronic tension headaches, constant fatigue, severe depression, and social anxiety. The signals between my brain and body were overwhelmed, and it was difficult to even have a moment of peace in the vessel that was supposed to be my home. Receiving therapeutic bodywork in 2019 was among the first times I could come home to my body and feel safe to stay present, moment by moment. Safe, therapeutic touch, a human who allowed me to just exist and receive, and to have a reprieve from chronic pain–this became a cornerstone of building a healthy relationship with my body and nervous system. The healing power of mindfulness-based bodywork is the reason I became a massage therapist, and what I am honored to share with you. In my free time, I enjoy writing, travelling, practicing and teaching yoga, hiking, creating rituals, touching moss, and swimming in bodies of water.
