Welcome to Mindful Spirit Massage Therapy. My name is Jennifer, and I am glad that you stopped by. If you are looking for a whole body, mindful, relaxation experience then you have come to the right place. I use a combination of modalities with your input, to create a customized massage for your needs and wellbeing. I believe the mind-body connection is so important for health and wellness. Through this journey my intent is that this connection, a harmony of communication, will help stimulate self-healing.
Seeing the whole person, this is a safe space and welcoming of all persons. We honor the space as sacred and provide the stillness to be. The therapist-client relationship will be based on trust, compassion, intention, strong communication skills, knowledge, and heart.
My background is in athletics, in individual training, group training, and some health coaching. At an early age I was impressed by the amazing things the human body can do but also by the people that I encountered that were living a productive life being active and fit. Life takes us in many directions, and I ended up working out of a community gym with people from all walks of life and all ages. I loved being part of this family, the love and support was tangible every time I walked through the doors. My interest in massage as a mode of healing was peaked at an early age when I encountered a sports massage therapist who traveled around the world with an Olympic sprinter out of the country of Kenya. We spoke not only of the quality of the output from the athlete but also his quality of life by adding massage as a mode of his training. He was able to heal quicker, add endurance and even speed by having his body in the rest and digest mode when not competing. By tapping into the parasympathetic nervous system, the body is able to get the nourishment it needs to perform at its best.
I was introduced to another area of healing that massage could also be effective in, the mind body connection. Could massage actually help trauma survivors to regain their ability to live in a relaxed body? My trauma studies stressed the most effective way for people to be able to deal with their trauma is in a relaxed body, thus a relaxed mind. Was it really possible for a person to return to the state of living through their body and not through their trauma? Being a trauma survivor myself I was more than willing to not only try this out but learn what I needed to do to help others realize their own ability to heal. Come on in, relax, breathe, heal. All are welcome and I hope to meet you soon!
