All through my life I have found grounding and centering by being in my body. Cycling, running, hiking, playing sports, weightlifting and have relished physical work with my hands: bike mechanics, plastering, carpentry, bread baking, woodworking, gardening and farming. Because of the amount I have spent practicing these things I have experienced a number of traumas, accidents, and injuries. It was really disempowering to not know and understand why my body hurt or what is happening to it and how everything I was doing was shaping and impacting it. Body work and massage therapy is a step on the path of understanding my body more. As I have learned more about the body, studying anatomy, and receiving bodywork, I have made connections with these traumas, accidents and injuries that felt incredibly liberating and empowering. It evoked something that helped me understand my experience. I hope that the knowledge I have gained, and the practices I have been taught to work with the body can help people feel empowered in their bodies. My hope and desire is to partner with people to have a caring relationship with their bodies and to offer support and relief and empowerment through a knowledge of their body. Our bodies are our gift to experiencing life on this beautiful rock. Let us offer them care, attention and gratitude for all that they offer us. May it be so.
