I consider massage a form of meditation and this has largely impacted my practice. My goal with massage has been to help clients (aka you) feel comfortable in their own bodies, feel comfortable with touch, and foster a sense of self-acceptance and oneness. I know this sounds like a lot to accomplish with massage, but massage can open the door for not only this, but also allows for general ease of well-being or simply a relaxing break from the day-to-day.
In a typical massage, I work mainly with my forearms. This allows me to use a range of pressure that can be therapeutic as well as relaxing, and long, broad strokes for maximizing contact while still remaining varied. While your attention is focused on the sensation, quality, and duration of each touch, you can be in the present moment; free of leftover thoughts from the day, hovering anxieties, or the need to move to what's next.
If that sounds interesting to you, let me know.
