Myofascial release is a therapeutic technique used to treat muscle tightness and pain in all ages even babies. This approach focuses on the fascia which is connective tissue that surrounds all the muscles, nerves, organs, and bones in the body. When you are healthy and moving well, fascia stays soft and flexible. However, fascia can become tight and stuck due to the birth process, a birth injury, inflammation, stress, poor posture, surgery, and other injuries. This can create pain, limit movement, and make your muscles feel stiff and weak.
The therapist will apply sustained pressure to the restricted areas in order to release the fascia and reduce pain, improve flexibility, and enhance overall mobility. Myofascial release is not about digging or forcing tissues. It is more about patiently waiting for that tension melt so your body can move freely and naturally. Myofascial release can help you get back to your life and all of the things that you need to do and want to do!
