I started doing massage school as soon as I was able to prove I was going to graduate high school. Little did I know how much it helped people and how many modalities there was out there. I was personally introduced to it at a young age for the treatment of scoliosis, this is where my passion began.
Some modalities in my toolbox are:
Medicupping- I like to think of it as taking gravity off the body illuminating that pressure of living. We get stagnant bloat from things such as an intake of medications, acidic diets, and a high-stress / no-rest pace, all producing a constant state of inflammation. This literally “cooks” the water right out of the body tissues. How many people actually absorb the water that they drink? Water is eliminated from the lymph as well, leaving it thick and unable to flow. This internal heat also fuses the soft tissue, closing the space between layers where the lymph should move freely. One of the most amazing aspects of this technique is the “separation” that the vacuum produces in tissue layers. This enables water absorption and renewed blood flow to undernourished and dehydrated tissue and the elimination of old waste and congestion. It has become evident that separation and drainage of fused, congested soft tissue produces an increase in tissue and systemic function and is a great catalyst for change in health. I enjoy medicupping because it enables me to be able to get in deeper and release some tension that may have been there for years.
Lymph Drainage- Lymph is light bodywork, about the pressure of 2 quarters, used to create a pattern to move fluid that is located absolutely everywhere in the body. Lymph helps regenerate healthly cells and helps remove waste, when it becomes weighed down or something prevents it from continuing its pattern. It becomes sluggish or peanut butter like. The lymph system doesn't have a pump, like a heart to make sure that it continually flows, so sometimes it just needs a jumpstart. I am able to work on superficial and deep flows of the entire lymphatic system as well as organs, oral and nasal passages, and joints.
Deep Tissue- I tend to blend deep tissue, neuromuscular and sports massage together, to make it easier on both the client and for myself. With active/passive range of motion I'm able to find the limitations, cross-fiber the trouble area, then sink in to the muscle to make sure there is less tension, before rechecking for limitations.
My newest passion has been Cranial Sacral. Ive spent 2023 - traveling around taking classes to get a deeper understanding on Cranial sacral. The power of such light touch about 5 g which is the pressure of a nickel, is quite impressive to me, it is the opposite of what my practice was and I'm in love with the results. Playing, for lack of a better word, with the brain and spinal fluid listening to the fascia following it as it tells its story, leaving the client relaxed/light, some relaxed for the first time in years.
Classes I've taken so far to get a better understanding of cranial.
