***OPENING OCTOBER FIRST***
Welcome to my sanctuary. When was the last time you really exhaled?
This office was born out of the idea of wanting to give *women a respite, a place to lay things down for an hour. A space to breathe in a little deeper, and - more importantly - breathe out more fully. It is a massage and muscle therapy office, yes, but therapy is therapy. Talk. Be quiet. Cry. Fall asleep. (By all means, snore!)
Breathe.
The office is located in Suite #8, at the quiet back side of Pathfinder Business Offices, overlooking a small field of pretty purple wildflowers. Plenty of free parking right at the front. Enter the main door, continue straight down the hallway until you are at the top of a set of stairs (do not go down), turn right, and find the first door on the left. A bathroom is located just across the hall (visit before you see me!).
What to expect...
First visit / Before
During your first session, I'll have you fill out some easy paperwork so that I know how to get in touch with you, and also a little of your physical history (things like allergies, migraines, high blood pressure, etc; I need to know). Then we'll chat. Tell me what you feel on a daily basis. Tell me about any injuries you've sustained, or any chronic pain. Tell me anything your doctor has told you to avoid. We'll talk about what you're hoping to gain from muscle work, and we'll talk about realistic timelines and what to expect. It's almost never a one time healing, but you'll likely feel better after!
We will also discuss how you may feel after, the importance of extra water, and some additional stretching or therapy that may continue the progress at home. We'll go over those things at the end, too.
During
We will stay in (quiet) communication about the pressure as we go, while I learn what works for you and what is too much. It is absolutely vital that you tell me if something feels like too much! If you're having to hold your breath, that's bad. I am happy to lighten the pressure or move on from a certain sore area or change a technique, but - although I can feel a lot that's going on in your body while I work on it - I cannot read your mind. I promise, I really want to know.
After
After the session, I will let you know that I will step out to wash my hands. I will knock and come back in after, but you will have complete privacy behind a screen to regain consciousness and balance and wipe the sleepy seeds and redress and put your hair back in place. Take your time. Don't get up too fast. When you're ready, we will handle payment and rebooking. (Please consider rebooking! It benefits both of us.) If I forget to ask, please request a water if you'd like! They'll be cold in the fridge.
Other important info...
Clothing during a session is always an uncertainty for those new to massage or muscle work. You are ALWAYS covered up with at least a sheet, often also a blanket, except for the part I'm working on. Private areas are NEVER uncovered. Professionalism is part of my massage license and part of my personal ethics. You are welcome to wear as much or as little clothing as you are comfortable with. My rule of thumb is the more skin I have to work on, the better, but a completely effective massage is possible while clothed as well. You may keep all clothes on, you may take all clothes off, or find your happy medium somewhere in the middle. (Helpful hint: most people take off either absolutely everything, or everything but underwear. You do you.)
Please do not smoke (cigarettes, marijuana, etc), vape, or drink alcohol within 3 hours of your appointment. Part of this is because I am allergic to cigarette smoke and the scent of marijuana gives me migraines, but also because the physical effects of these products are hightened with massage because of the increased circulation. IT IS UNSAFE. I will be able to smell it, trust me, and I will end the session before it starts.
I will be up front with you as we move along if I reach a point where I feel massage is no longer safe for you, and will advise that you visit your primary care physician.
I have a zero tolerance policy for sexual harrassment. Any "professional" massage (and I use that term loosely in this case) of a sexual nature is illegal, as is being completely uncovered - no sheet or clothing at all - during a massage. The session will end, I will ask you to get dressed and leave, you will be charged for the session, and you will not be allowed to return.
This is a primarily women's massage office. Men will be seen at the referral of an existing client. That's the atmosphere I'm choosing to create.
Payment...
Pre-payment IS required for booking online. No-shows will be charged 50% of the session cost. Cancellations within 24 hours will be charged a fee of $25, with exceptions made at my sole discretion. (Don't worry, I'm generally nice. Don't be the person that ruins it for everyone.) Cancellations do not automatically issue refunds or credits - refunds must be issued by me manually. When booking online, you may choose to save your credit card information for future use, but this information is only accessible by you, not me. (If you book with me directly but still wish to pre-pay, simply log in to your client account to pre-pay.)
