About Me:
My passion for holistic living was instilled in me at a young age. Growing up on a small farm in Holland MI, I was taught to seek a more holistic, evidence-based approach to health. I believe the body works as a whole unit to heal: Physically, Mentally and Spiritually, and I incorporate this into my Bodywork. When I'm not working I'm outside. I enjoy CrossFit, Hiking, Camping, Surfing, Snowboarding, Dirt biking and anything that involves adventuring with my husband, Tyler, and our pup, Koda.
Education:
I received my nursing degree in 2009. I worked OB-GYN, Pediatrics and currently Geriatrics. I enjoy serving others in this field, and take a more preventative, functional medicine, evidence-based approach to health. Throughout the years my passion for fitness and health lead me to obtaining my; 200hr Yoga Certification, L1 CrossFit Certification, Personal Training Certification, Spin Certification, Barre Certification and I have helped many of my clients with nutrition through a Holistic Primal Animal Base Diet approach.
What to expect?
Sports Infusion Body Work: I have developed my own style that I find to be very effective for lasting pain management and injuries recovery and prevention.
Every muscle is connected throughout the body by Fascia, I start by warming up each muscle with a mixture of Swedish movements and Thai massage/Stretching/ROM.
Deep tissue work and Trigger Point work is applied to brake up tightly bound fascia. Gua Sha or Scraping and Cupping are two modalities found to be very effective in allowing the muscles to stay relaxed long after your body work is complete.
Each massage is customized to your bodies needs.
I hope to make sports massage accessible to others and highlight the health benefits …. whether you are a CrossFit Athlete, triathlete or, if you wish to compete for a personal best or just cross a finish line, my advice to you is to incorporate sports massage into your life.
What is a Sports Massage?
Muscles that are worked hard will sometimes suffer from adhesion and hypertonicity. This is when a part or the whole of a muscle becomes chronically contracted due to a lack of proper hydration, excessive use or overexertion, or damage to it through injury.
Adhesions are often known as a “muscle knot” and this area is more tender to touch. Muscle adhesions and hypertonicity impact the functionality of the muscle and this will then impact the muscle’s flexibility which can lead to a loss of range of movement.
Sports Massage is a type of deep tissue massage with the main aim to break down adhesions, and internal scar tissue, reduce hypertonicity and promote tissue flexibility.
A sports massage will help realign layers of muscles and release any tension in the myofascial tissue. Sports massage will incorporate a wide variety of techniques such as trigger point therapy, soft tissue release, dry cupping, and facilitated stretching, PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), and compression.

When Should I Have Sports Therapy?
Sports therapy can be broken down into three main types, which will help you decide
when the best time to consider a sports massage.
They can be taken before an event where you may be required to use your muscles
extensively, following an event to help the body’s tissues recover, or after incurring an
injury in order to return your muscles to proper working order.
Pre-event Massage
These types of massages are a vital part of a person’s warm-up for an event to help increase
the flow of blood through your muscles. This ensures they are prepared to exert a lot of energy
and reduces the likelihood of fatigue. A pre-event massage will also help to increase the
flexibility of your muscles and the range of motion they can endure. It involves stretching and
toning the muscles.
Post-Event Massage
After putting a lot of pressure on your muscles during a heavy exercise they will need to
recover. Post event treatment will assist in breaking down adhesions and scar tissue.
Restorative and Rehabilitative Massages
Sometimes there is simply nothing that will prepare you for an injury that will leave your
muscles in pain. If left untreated, even the smallest of sports injuries could later lead to major
damage that will set you back for weeks. Sports massage treatment can be a crucial part of
your restorative treatment in order to remedy the damage.
Over a duration of treatments, these rehabilitative massages will help alleviate the pain and
make sure your muscles are prepared for future events so that the same wounds will not be
repeated.
Dry Cupping Benefits
Cupping is a safe, traditional treatment that helps resolve chronic muscle tightness and pain
faster than massage therapy alone. The suction from the cups increases circulation to the
area where the cups are placed. The additional blood flow to that area can help relieve muscle
tension and promote cell repair. Cupping gives your body a boost in releasing those toxins.
Focused blood flow helps your body by flushing built-up toxins through the lymphatic system.
(Your lymphatic system is responsible for eliminating your body’s toxins and waste.)
