I was born and raised in Kokomo Indiana but I've spent the last decade all over Colorado. While I was away, I was in a major automobile accident that should have killed me. I dislocated 4 ribs from my spine, detached my left humerous bone from the shoulder girdle and pinched my bracchial nerve in four places. I have been described as "stubborn as the day is long" so when the whiplash set in (which was so bad I felt like I was having a heart attack) I refused narcotic pain pills, surgery and most "modern" medicine. Instead, I found a great chiropractor. On my first session, it was found that the four ribs that sit under the scapula had pushed themselves out of the rib connection and were killing the nerve and muscles that sit under the scapula. I had basically pushed the head of my arm bone into my neck. My chiropractor was able to reset the joints and reposition the bones but the muscle tension soon pulled the bones right back out of position. My chiropractor recommended massage therapy. Between the chiropractic sessions and weekly massage sessions, I was back to 90% within a year without ever really taking any pain medications. To say I was made a believer is to put it mildly. my massage therapist had the same degree that I currently have. her recommendation was to get the best and highest form of massage education I could to do what she was able to do. I am a Veteran of the US Army, as a Military Police Officer. In officer training, I was taught how to use my own body weight, physics and martial arts to control most situations. Physics and the body are the same no matter the application. The difference between hurting a person and healing a person is the goal and intention behind the touch. If you can hurt someone, you can heal them too. I used what base knowledge I already had and enrolled into the Academy of Natural Therapy in Greeley, Co. At the time the state of Colorado required at least 1000 credit hours for state licensure (its now been reduced to 650 hours). Before the rules changed, I was one of the last enrollees to the Associate's Degree of Applied Sciences- Massage Therapy. I graduated from the Academy in May of 2018 Summa Cum Laude with a 4.6 GPA and 1775 credit hours. I hold certifications in Swedish, medical, orthopedic, neuromuscular, sports, pre and post natal, reflexology, canine, hydrotherapy, lymphatic drainage and hot stone massages. I also hold certifications in pathology, herbology, kinesiology, cupping therapy and anatomy. Because I have more education and a higher degree than most of my peers, it did not take long for word of mouth to spread my reputation far and wide. I was eventually recruited for a major hotel and resort chain to work in the elite spas between Vail and Aspen Colorado. I have been known as many things throughout my lifetime but my favorite is "The best massage therapist at the Ritz Carlton Spa in Bachelor Gulch, Colorado". I was the most requested massage therapist for three years in a row and have received many accolades (some can be seen in the reviews section) from clients from across the globe. Due to rent hikes and the shear unsustainability of the cost of mountain life, it made more sense to come back to our home town of Kokomo, Indiana. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly of corporate and resort massage facilities. By establishing Finding Grace Massage I hope to bring the best of the spa world into the Heartland. My hobbies include fishing, foraging, hunting and belly dancing. I currently reside in Kokomo with my husband and our dog.
Go on, be a good friend and share MassageBook with them. They'll love you for it.
