Our bodies are challenged and compromised every second of every day through daily activities. Over time our bodies build up tolerances and compensations in order to keep performing. Unless we take the opportunity to take care of our bodies via strength training, massage/bodywork, sleep, etc. there will be a breaking point and an increased risk of injuries and illnesses. It's important to understand the benefits of massage/bodywork in order to maintain healthy and optimal movement. If we are breaking down our bodies, it is important to build it back up through recovery and rehabilitation. Massage/bodywork is one of the most beneficial and effective tools one can gift ourselves. For me, knowledge is power. The more I know and grow in skill and technique, the better I can assist my clients. Because of this, I have multiple backgrounds and experience as a licensed physical therapist assistant (since 2014), a strength training coach (since 2017), and now a licensed massage therapist (since 2022). I work with the general public to elite level athletes. Because I am an athlete myself (competitive powerlifter), I understand the importance as an athlete of not only maintaining a healthy functioning body to perform optimally and the aches and pains of training, but the importance of longevity as an athlete. Picking a quality massage therapist is important in order for the massage to be effective. Not every massage therapist is a perfect fit for you, nor should you assume they are. Every massage therapist has certain touch, personality, technique(s), education level, and background in order to better assist your needs. It is important to research your massage therapist in order to make sure they are a good fit for you.
