I have been practicing John Barns Myofascial Release for the last 4 years and treated hundreds of clients with great results. For the past 18 years I have practicing as a COTA/L working with children, I have learned the importance of treating everyone holistically incorporating the mind, body and spirit to help a client achieve their best results.
Facia is a touch connective tissue that spreads through the body in a three dimensional web from head to toe without interruption. Trauma, posture, or inflammation can create a binding down of the fascia resulting in excessive pressure on the nerves, blood vessels, bones, and organs in the body.
The John Barns Approach consists of a gentle sustained pressure to the fascial restrictions. The essential "time element" has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate and release the pressure from the restrictions.
