From cement finisher to massage therapist…
I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2009. I graduated from Tri State College of Massotherapy and am trained in Swedish therapeutic massage. I also took courses in ortho-bionomy, bio-dynamic cranial sacral work, and Touch for Health, which is an interesting concept for me that relates to my interests in martial arts and Chinese medicine. My specialty is neuromuscular massage, which also includes myofascial work.
If you’re looking for a spa massage, you’re in the wrong place! I can do relaxation massage, but it’s just not my thing. My focus is neck, back, hip and shoulder pain-any kind of pain or restriction muscular wise that is causing pain or lack of range of motion. I like to be challenged and figure out what is wrong and how to fix or make it better. That’s what I enjoy. If I don’t know what the issue is, you can bet I find out or will figure it out through process of elimination. I specialize in restoring form and function to the body, relieving pain, and increasing range of motion.
I’m also a Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) provider, which means that I’m legally permitted to work on injured workers in conjunction with chiropractors and other medical professionals to help facilitate rehabilitation with massotherapy. I am able to work on clients and bill BWC for services rendered.
Like I said, this isn’t your typical relaxation or spa massage. You may need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable-but you will see results. I have direct experience with pain and a lack of function due to many low back disc herniations that I have suffered from during many years working my way up from laborer to cement finisher. I lived and worked with pain for many years without any relief. So I understand what happens to the body and have firsthand experience with repetitive strain injuries.
