Maria Furstoss - Licensed Massage Therapist
Maria is a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist who blends a strong educational foundation with a genuine commitment to client well-being. She holds an Applied Science degree in Massage Therapy from Monroe Community College, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science with a minor in Women’s Studies from SUNY Brockport.
Specializing in Swedish, sports, and deep tissue massage, Maria also holds certifications in pregnancy massage, cupping, trigger point therapy, and active release techniques. Maria bases her pricing solely on the duration of the massage, never on the techniques used. She draws on her full range of skills to create individualized sessions tailored to each client’s unique needs. Maria believes clients deserve the most effective care possible within their session time, and that integrating the right combination of techniques is simply part of providing thoughtful, client-centered treatment. Her primary focus in each session is enhancing functional abilities, easing tension, and helping clients fully enjoy their lives.
Maria finds her sanctuary outdoors, where she can unwind and reconnect with herself. Whether she’s hiking through quiet forest trails, cycling along open paths, or pausing to take in the sound of a nearby waterfall, nature offers her a sense of grounding and clarity. The Adirondack Mountains remain one of her favorite places to explore and truly “get away.”
Just as nature offers many paths to grounding and renewal, each massage with Maria provides many ways for the body to restore itself and regain its natural rhythm. The modalities below highlight the techniques she incorporates to support each individual client.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage uses oil or cream with smooth, gliding strokes. It incorporates firm yet gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension, and support overall well-being. This classic modality helps reduce stress and encourages the body to slip into a calm, restorative state.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage targets deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to address chronic tension and discomfort. This technique is especially helpful for improving range of motion, releasing long-standing muscular restrictions, and supporting the healing of deeper soft-tissue injuries.
Sports Massage
Sports massage focuses on the specific needs of active individuals and athletes. Techniques may include targeted stretching, deep muscle work, and mobility-focused approaches to help enhance performance, reduce the risk of injury, and support recovery. Whether preparing for an event or easing post-activity soreness, sports massage is tailored to meet the demands of an active lifestyle.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage is designed to support the unique needs of expectant mothers. Using specialized cushions, positioning, and gentle techniques, this modality helps reduce discomfort, ease muscle strain, and promote relaxation while ensuring comfort and safety throughout every stage of pregnancy.
Adolescent Massage
Adolescent massage is intended for clients under the age of 18 and tailored to their developmental needs. Clients ages 5–14 require a parent or guardian to be present during the session. With consent from all parties, clients ages 15–17 may receive treatment independently. This service helps young clients manage stress, ease muscle tension, and develop healthy self-care habits.
Cupping Therapy
Massage cupping is a modern adaptation of the ancient practice of cupping therapy. Instead of applying pressure to the body, cupping uses gentle negative pressure to lift, decompress, and expand soft tissues. This technique helps improve circulation, release muscular tension, and support overall mobility.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy focuses on relieving tender, irritable spots within tight muscle bands—often responsible for referred pain or restricted movement. By applying precise, sustained pressure to these points, this technique helps reduce discomfort, improve function, and restore ease within the affected muscles.
Active Release Therapy (ART)
Active release techniques combine targeted pressure with guided movement to help free muscles and connective tissues from adhesions or restrictions. By engaging the tissue while it moves, this method helps improve mobility, reduce pain, and support healthy, efficient movement patterns.
