Each bodywork session is uniquely created to address the individual needs of each client in order to best restore balance and freedom to the body while generating calm and stability to the mind.
The manual therapy techniques I draw from include the following:
-compressions: gentle yet powerful broad pressure to soften tissue, calm and regulate the nervous system and allow the circulatory system to flush and nourish the affected areas
- sen/channel treatment techniques: specific detailed work to access the deeper structures of the body and create space for ease of movement
-passive stretches that feel restorative and luxurious and open more space in the body
-deep visceral abdominal massage to aid in digestion, detoxification and nourish organ function as well as releasing hip flexors to free the low back
Other specialized modalities include:
-steamed herbal compresses imported from Thailand that not only smell divine they warm, soothe, nourish, relax tension and aid in detoxification
-cupping with silicone and fire techniques that help to release tight fascia and to pull stagnation and tension out of the deeper tissues
-scraping or gua sha which increases local circulation and has been proven to release anti-inflammatory enzymes and reduce allergic inflammation systemically
-Tok sen which is a percussive healing tool of northern Thailand that gently and rhythmically frees up tight tissues and clears the deeper channels and allows freedom of movement of the body
-application of traditional homemade herbal clams and liniments
Thai Bodywork is a branch of the traditional medical system of Thailand. At the core of the system is restoring balance between the body’s internal elements and the elements that reside externally. The elemental system is comprised of wind, fire, water, earth, space and consciousness and they exist in different proportions unique to each individual’s overall constitution. This balance fluctuates depending on season, one’s daily habits, age, climate and time of day. When we are in balance elementally our body and mind are stable and grounded in the present.
