About Jen Patterson: (Update as of September 2025): After almost 24 years as a massage therapist, Jen has decided to close her practice and go back to school in pursuit of a new career in Nursing. She was accepted into the ABSN program at the University of Kentucky and will begin in the fall of 2025. Her passion for health and wellness will hopefully help her make a big impact in healthcare!
Jen is a licensed massage therapist, movement educator and yoga teacher. As a past college athlete, she learned how to push her body to limits that seemed impossible. Unfortunately, sometimes pushing through those limits brought on pain. It wasn’t until many years into her professional massage career that she started to question the “no pain, no gain” philosophy. Pain serves (or should serve) as a warning sign to the body that something is wrong. Often times as an athlete or as a person dealing with chronic pain, an individual learns to tune out the pain signal. But if we tune out too long, these signals can turn into dysfunctions and dis-ease in the body. Massage therapy is a wonderful way to bring awareness back into the body (prevention) and restore wellness so the body can continue to do what you ask it to do (healing).
In 2001, Jen received a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology - Exercise Science from the University of Kentucky. She then completed a massage therapy program in 2002 and became a Licensed Massage Therapist in KY. In 2021, Jen completed a 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training program with Amanda McMaine and now also teaches yoga. She has worked in numerous settings including physical therapy, athletic training, personal training, fitness gyms and massage schools. She has also travelled with various college-level sports teams, worked hundreds of triathlons, marathons, cycling events and other sporting events around KY as an on-site massage therapist, including leading the sports massage team at Louisville Ironman as team director. Her clinical massage training is in Myofascial Massage Therapy (MFR), Trigger Point Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (LDT), Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) and Orthopedic/Sports Massage Therapy. She is also certified in Kinesiotaping and includes essential oils (aromatherapy) during massage sessions for added natural healing benefits to support the body.
Jen enjoys spending time with her family and is the mother of 2 active boys. She loves to cycle, trail run, hike, kayak, stand-up paddle board, practice yoga, travel and read lots of book! Jen is on a quest for deeper knowledge and is honored to share the health and wellness journey with others!
