Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) Massage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a type of massage (soft tissue/skin manipulation) which is a very light touch, gentle, rhythmic, specifically sequenced hand movements, that pump fluid towards the lymphatic vessels . The movements are designed to stimulate the lymphatic system and to move the lymphatic fluid to vessels which transport it to be eliminated naturally from the body by voiding. Lymph fluid consists of wastes, proteins, bacteria, and viruses.
Post plastic surgery recovery massage
MLD is beneficial for plastic surgery recovery as swelling can increase around surgical areas and incisions. MLD stimulates and activates the lymphatic system which is responsible for draining body fluids (edema-swelling). Edema swelling is typically seen after liposuction, abdominoplasty, breast augmentation, breast reconstruction, and face lifts . This technique improves the lymphatic circulation reducing the accumulation of fluids, it can also aid in decreasing chances of developing fibrosis as well as improving dermal perfusion reducing side effects such as cutis marmorata, thinning of skin and ulceration. MLD also stimulates the immune system that stimulates cellular and humoral immunity. This treatment also improves cellular nutrition and tissue recovery. The benefits of MLD achieve faster and more satisfactory recovery.
Lymphedema is the accumulation of this fluid somewhere within the body under the skin usually in a limb but can happen anywhere. The lymphatic system is the "drainage/sewer system" of the body. It can be compromised by a primary or secondary mechanical insufficiency. Primary lymphedema is a congenital condition (at birth) by a abnormality of development (dysplasia) within the lymphatic system. Secondary lymphedema is caused by some damage done to a lymphatic node/nodes or vessel of the system by a lymph node biopsy, removal, chemo/ radiation cancer treatments, or damage from surgery. MLD is a therapy that assists in restoring balance back to the lymphatic system reducing the fluid accumulation in clients. There is no cure for Lymphedema but there is treatment which consists of Complete Decongestive Therapy. Which is a combination of compression, MLD, and exercise. If you are in need of CDT you will be referred to a clinic that can come up with a plan and then once the intensive phase is addressed you can be treated in the maintenance phase with MLD therapy with your compression.

Contraindications of MLD
Arterial insufficiency, aortic aneurysm, untreated cancers, active bleeding internally or externally, acute congestive heart failure, acute renal failure, infection, cellulitis, deep vein thrombosis DVT, major obstructions, or serious cardiac stenosis.

Feather Essence
We also offer Reiki sessions which is a subtle energy modality. It is a technique which a practitioner uses her/his hands to transfer universal energy through the palms to the receiving client to promote emotional/spiritual/physical healing. The palms are held above or lightly on parts of the clients body such as the head neck limbs. It is gentle and soothing experience.
There are required forms to be filled out prior to your session, please fill them out at time of scheduling online to benefit from the most hands on time in your session. If you do not fill them out online, then they will need to be done during your allotted session which will cut into the allotted time on the table.
The sessions are 1 hour and we strive to give 50- 55 min of hands on therapy within that time frame.
