My name is Liana Russo. Whether you’re in need of recovery from acute pain, a chronic illness or imbalance, or emotional/mental distress, I am here to provide a focused and individualized treatment plan, as well as a space where you feel comfortable letting go of the many stresses of life.
I am new(ish) to Prescott, I moved here at the end of 2021. Originally I’m from Philadelphia, PA, but it turned out that city-life didn’t agree with me - being closer to nature was what I needed for my body and mind. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to provide quality care to this community, it’s what I love to do.
Although I do have a strong background in physical medicine and western biological sciences, I have always tended towards a holistic and integrative approach to the body and the psyche.
I graduated with my Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine in 2015 from a 4 year integrative medicine college in California, where acupuncturists are taught to be primary care providers. Through this program I also studied abroad at a medical college in Shikoku, Japan, as well as completed a landmark internship at the Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco. Outside of my school’s curriculum, I studied as an apprentice for 2 years under Dr. Barbara Martello, a specialist of a style of acupuncture called Japanese Meridian Therapy. I also completed a 4 part certification process in Esoteric Acupuncture, as taught by Dr. Mikio Sankey.
In addition to acupuncture (Classical Chinese, TCM, Japanese, & Esoteric), I also provide therapeutic cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, nutritional and lifestyle counseling, and Medical Qi Gong when necessary. I am a certified Chinese Medicine herbalist and prescribe individualized herbal compounding as well as pre-prepared formulas.
Having been trained and certified in several modalities of trauma resolution therapy, I also offer my treatment room as a safe space to discuss and release hardships, traumas, emotional stress, and mental struggles.
Beyond my 4 years of medical school and various 1:1 internship/apprenticeship, I continue to hone these skills through group study, accredited continuing education courses, and ever-deepening personal study. Over time I have developed my therapeutic strengths through an illuminating and sometimes grueling process of education and embodiment. I consider myself a “forever-student” of this medicine.
Please feel free to get in contact with any questions you have about your ailments or the treatment process. If you’d like to meet me before scheduling your first appointment, I offer a free 20 minute consultation in the office or by phone.
