I have been a nurse for twenty years working with pediatric and neonatal populations. Throughout my career I have witnessed the many benefits of massage. I became a Certified Educator of Infant Massage August 2014 in order to be able to educate the parents in the NICU how to massage their infants as many studies have shown massage improves weight gain in preterm infants and decreases the lenghth of stay. It alleviates discomfort in infants going through withdrawal. I started receiving referals to teach friends and relatives infant massage. I quickly learned that all infants benefit from massage whether they are healthy or in the Neonatal Intensive Care. Infant massage is a form of communication that strengthens the bond between infant and parent. It alleviates discomfort for colic, constipation and teething. It stimulates the nervous system which in turn promotes growth and developement. Improved sleep patterns and relaxation to all infants. After seeing the many benefits massage has for all infants I started my own business Posh Baby Massage. This allows me to teach massage to all parents. The massage strokes learned in the classes can be used throughout a lifetime :) I feel very blessed I can share this valuable information to families.
