About Me

I’m Derek Johnson-Dean, Certified Massage Therapist and owner of Renew Sports Massage & Holistic Health. Since 2012, I’ve helped people across Minneapolis recover, perform, and thrive. I also bring more than 20 years in public health and multidisciplinary care coordination, which gives me a unique perspective on how lifestyle, stress, and health intersect in the body.

I believe in treating the whole person—not just the symptoms. Every massage integrates my expertise in sports recovery, health equity, and trauma-informed care. My mission is simple: help people live healthier, pain-free, active lives.

Services & Pricing

60 minutes — $120 (Loyalty $96)
75 minutes — $145 (Loyalty $116)
90 minutes — $170 (Loyalty $136)

Sports Massage

Targeted bodywork to improve performance, mobility, and recovery.

Deep Tissue Massage

Focused work on deeper muscle layers to release tension and knots.

Heated Cupping Therapy

Infrared or traditional cups to release fascia, improve circulation, and reduce pain.

Instrument-Assisted Scraping (Heated or Non-Heated)

Breaks down adhesions, restores glide, and reduces chronic tension.

Assisted Stretching

Guided stretching for flexibility, recovery, and injury prevention.

Pain Management

Gentle stretching, hot stones, cold packs, or cupping to ease soreness.
Note: If you’re experiencing acute or burning pain, a referral from a medical provider may be required.

For appointments before 9:00 AM or after 6:00 PM, please text (612) 367-6773 when you arrive, and I’ll buzz you in.
In cold or bad weather, text me from your car and I’ll buzz you in so you don’t have to wait outside.
