Massage may range from a light to deep pressure and is a general term for manually manipulating soft tissues such as your skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments. There are many different types of massage, including these common types:

Swedish Massage - This is a gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping to help relax and energize you.

Medical Massage - This type of massage is an outcome-based massage, primarily the application of a specific treatment and is administered after a thorough assessment and evaluation by the medical massage therapist targeting the specific problem area(s) the patient presents with a diagnosis.

Deep Tissue - This massage technique uses slower, more forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, commonly used to help with muscle damage from injuries.

Sports Massage - A more vigorous massage that incorporates stretching intended to focus on the muscles used in your sport activity.

Trigger Point/Acupressure Therapy - These techniques are used to focus on areas of tight muscle fibers that can form after injuries or overuse.

Myofascial Release - Connective tissues called fascia surround the muscles, bones, nerves, and organs of the body. Myofascial Release is a manipulative treatment that attempts to release tension in the fascia due to trauma, posture, or inflammation.
