Red light therapy (RLT) works by stimulating the mitochondria within cells, increasing the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the body's primary energy source. Unlike ultraviolet (UV) light, the specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light used in RLT are absorbed by the mitochondria without causing cellular damage. This boost in cellular energy and function drives a cascade of beneficial biological processes.

Red light therapy uses low-level light to stimulate cell repair and regeneration. Its benefits include:

For skin: Reduces wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots by boosting collagen production. It also helps with acne, rosacea, and wound healing by reducing inflammation.

For pain: Eases joint pain and muscle soreness by decreasing inflammation and increasing blood flow. It can also speed up muscle recovery after exercise.

For hair: Stimulates hair follicles and increases blood flow to the scalp, promoting hair growth and thickness.

Other potential benefits: Studies are ongoing, but it may help improve sleep and mood, support brain health, and assist with weight management.

RLT is generally considered safe and non-invasive, with minimal risks.
