I am a licensed massage therapist in NC (#17265) who is trained as a doula and midwife assistant. My educational background is a B.S. in Family and Human Development. I am certified in prenatal, postpartum and infant massage through Nurturing Mother. I am also certified to teach childbirth education through Bastyr University.

My practice's core is evidence-based while holding reverence for massage as an intuitive art. I both recognize the need for client-centered care and also bring with me an understanding of anatomy, contraindications, and specific concerns for the prenatal and postpartum period.

I offer my prenatal massage in both side lying and an upright position supported by pillows starting from the first trimester. If requested, in my postpartum massage I can provide additional heat in the form of moxa or a jade heat pad to nourish the body after the intensity of labor. I utilize wrapping and nourishing strokes to help a woman re-connect with her core. My general mother massage is catered to a women's specific needs and desires. It can focus on melting tension due to the effects of repetitive postural habits while caring for you little one and/or bringing a woman deeper into her parasympathetic system where her body can begin healing. The pressure I use can be very subtle and energetic from craniosacral holds to medium effleurage and even deep pressure after pregnancy/postpartum. I check-in about pressure throughout the massage and encourage women to speak up for what they need.

When we ask for what we need during bodywork, it can empower us in other areas of our lives. While I do not in any way act as a mental health therapist, I am trauma-informed and have a list of resources a person can pursue if they need additional support with the struggles they experience in their lives. I am currently attending births infrequently but can also provide additional resources to help you build your birth team. Outside of my massage practice, I teach monthly childbirth education classes with the lovely Elizabeth Bigelow at Birth Bees Doula Collective.
