Founded in 2009 by Paul Dunsdon, Sports Massage of Dixie has earned distinction as a premier massage therapy practice in St. George, Utah, specializing in evidence-based bodywork, performance optimization, and injury prevention for athletes and active individuals. In 2025, Paul expanded his vision with a second location, The Performance Advantage, in Billings, Montana, bringing the same commitment to science-based care and personalized performance solutions to a new community.

The clinics integrate advanced manual therapy, corrective exercise, and individualized performance development, serving clients from recreational athletes to top professionals. Services include sports massage, therapeutic massage, medical massage, and customized programs for mobility, recovery, and competition preparation, all designed to help people move better, recover faster, and perform at their best.

Paul is a board-certified massage therapist (NCBTMB) and Exercise Physiologist (American College of Sports Medicine). He holds dual certifications with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Kinesiology from Utah Tech University. His approach blends the precision of clinical science with the care and intuition of skilled manual therapy, ensuring every session is both evidence-based and personally meaningful.

Professional Background

Since beginning his work in southern Utah in 2008, Paul has drawn on nearly two decades of specialized experience in massage therapy, exercise science, and performance enhancement. His professional mastery was shaped by an intensive 24-month immersion in advanced sports and bodywork, guided by preceptors with more than 40 years of combined experience in sports medicine, massage therapy, and higher education. He regularly commuted between St. George and Las Vegas for hands-on mentorship, immediately applying new techniques and methods within his own clinic.

Paul’s athletic background in competitive track, water polo, and formal dance training deepened his understanding of balance, power, and precision, insight that fuels his belief in the body’s remarkable ability to adapt and heal. This unique combination of academic rigor, clinical expertise, and athletic intuition allows him to treat clients of all ages and abilities with confidence, empathy, and a clear sense of purpose.

In addition to his clinical work, Paul is a published author on advanced sports massage and an NCBTMB Approved Provider for Continuing Education (CEUs). He develops and teaches professional courses that bridge the gap between massage therapy and exercise science, helping practitioners expand their clinical reasoning, manual skills, and evidence-based understanding of performance and recovery.

Athletic Involvement and Community Engagement

Volunteerism has always been at the heart of Paul’s work. He has supported athletic events for 13 seasons with Ironman St. George, including three world championships, serving as Massage Team Captain and allied healthcare provider. His outreach extends to events such as the St. George Marathon, Huntsman World Senior Games, and work with teams including Maximus 300, Iron Titans Gym, BBSC Endurance Sports, the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association, and the Dixie Rebels semi-pro football team. He has also served as personal therapist to 2010 Ironman St. George champion Michi Weiss.

Paul’s dedication to community service extends well beyond athletics, earning him recognition as the American Red Cross Utah Volunteer of the Year in 2015. He also served as Southern Utah Disaster Program Manager, leading community preparedness and emergency response efforts. As a certified CPR/AED/First Aid instructor, he continues to teach lifesaving skills that empower individuals and strengthen communities.

An alumnus of Leadership Dixie, Paul also values the power of connection and collaboration. The organization fosters civic engagement and leadership among southern Utah’s emerging and established professionals, a mission that mirrors Paul’s own dedication to mentorship, education, and lifelong growth.
