Myofascial Release (MFR) is a form of manual therapy that focuses on relieving pain and restoring movement by targeting the fascia-- connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and organs. How it works:

During a myofascial release treatment, the therapist uses gentle, sustained pressure and stretching techniques to release tension in the fascia. MFR does NOT involve vigorous kneading of deep tissue pressure. Instead, it works by applying slow, steady pressure to areas of tightness, holding the stretch for several minutes to allow the fascia to elongate and release its restrictions. It is a gentle, but very powerful treatment technique.
