With a Masters degree in Speech Pathology in 1988, I practiced for only 5 years before my body began to lead me through pain to discover the miracle of massage. I began receiving massage and realized it was helping more than just my physical pain, it was helping me let go of patterns I had formed in childhood. In 1993 I went to the Santa Barbara School of Massage and I have been allowing this gift to unfold ever since. In 1993, I learned myofascial release from John F. Barnes, PT and began to practice this technique exclusively because the results were so much better and longer lasting than traditional massage. In 2015 I wrote a book “Touching Light: How To Free Your Fiber-Optic Fascia” about this amazing modality. My intention was to explain to the layman what this treatment is and how it can effect healing in the long term. Since 2010 I have owned and operated my business OHM/Sanctuary with a thriving practice in Ojai, California and I enjoy working, speaking and teaching others about the wondrous tissue called “fascia”. Understanding it will revolutionize our understanding of health care and empower each of us to heal more effectively from disease and injury with less reliance on the forceful use of pharmaceuticals and surgery.
