I had a lot going on in my life with my husband's chronic illness and his inability to work for the first time in his life. I had just gone through a bout of shingles and was very stressed. I was in my PCP's office, and he suggested I get a massage. So, I sat out to find a massage therapist. I found someone in the town next to me and I looked up her reviews and made me an appointment. This is the first time I had ever heard of Massage Book. I was hesitant because at the time we did not have the money to be spending on what I considered to be frugal things, but I needed something to help me. I made the appointment and went to see her. As I entered her facility, I was a little surprised but was not completely sure what I was to encounter. My thoughts on the experience were like going to see a Chiropractor for an adjustment. The young lady greeted me and went through my condition, concerns, and aspects of the appointment. As the appointment began, I was still unsure of how this was going to help me with my stress. As the therapist began working my muscles from head to toe and the warmth of the heated table warmed my body from the cool winter weather outside and the comforting smell of lavender that was filling the room my mind and body began to relax. For that brief 60-minute appointment I found myself in complete and relaxed bliss. As the appointment came to an end, I was in awe of her knowledge and that made it possible for her to relieve me for that brief period. I knew that I wanted to be able to help people in the same way. I started looking into how massage therapy will help people with chronic illnesses. I wanted to be able to help my husband and others like him and wanted people like me to experience what my awarding, 60-minute session had done for me. That was in February 2022 and on March 7, 2022, I began my studies at Clary Sage College in the massage therapy program. I have made it. I am now able to do exactly what I set out to 1 year ago.
