After graduating from the University of North Texas in 1999 with a BFA in Painting and Drawing, I had a career helping to create interior environments with paint effects, faux finishes, murals and textures. After years of scaling ladders and gripping tools, I naturally developed some aches and pains. Then I discovered yoga in 2014. I discovered how exercise (done properly) could make a hard job easier with more strength, more flexibility and, in my case, eliminating joint pain. I loved it so much I became an RYT-500 yoga teacher in 2015. Soon after, I noticed the mental benefits of my yoga practice. I continued my education with Yoga Bridge (Yoga for cancer patients) and discovered the wonders of restorative yoga, which quiets the mind and body by supporting it with pillows and bolsters. I practiced Yin yoga, featuring long, extended stretches, which makes your muscles more flexible and your tendons more resilient. I also enrolled in a yoga therapy program, which seeks to employ breathing techniques, simple yoga postures, and meditation to bring balance to all aspects of human life. I decided halfway through the yoga therapy program, however, that I'd rather be a massage therapist!

I completed a 500 hour massage therapy training program and a 120 hour internship at the Institute of Bodywork Studies (now called Massage Institute of North Texas), in Lewisville, Texas in 2019. I have since continued my education with a 40-hour Medical Massage Practitioner certificate from the LMT Success Group, as well as 36 additional hours of continuing education focusing on myofascial release, massage for fybromyalgia, lymphatic drainage, and trigger point therapy.

My approach to massage therapy is that it is a dialogue with another person's nervous system. Relaxation is still the cornerstone of my massage, so your body will be more receptive to the therapeutic techniques, and because your body begins to heal itself when your nervous system is in a relaxed state. Stretching can also be an important part of pain relief, and I am very comfortable assisting you with that as well as educating you for self-care with stretches or with exercises. I believe in a gentle approach, as free of pain or discomfort as possible.
