Like, I literally say that: ‘let’s see what the neck is telling us” or “let’s see what that shoulder says” and let’s see what’s happening in that lower back.”

The human body can communicate a lot of information, and I know how to read it….most of the time….sometimes.. I’ve been massaging for a long time - 23 years to be exact - and I’ve seen a lot of the common pain patterns and injuries that manifest in all of us. And for manny I can say I know what’s happening or causing you that pain. Let me explain…

I want to know what the root of the problem is before we start. When did it start? Is there a history concerning an injury or injuries related to the issue? Was it a current activity, work out, work related, and so on.

My approach is unique in the way I work. I like to ease into the muscles to establish trust within the tissues and prevent further guarding, tightening and exacerbating the pain. I check for limitations in movement. I compare sides and check for patterns. I want to know which muscle is stuck in a concentric (short) spasm and which muscle is stuck in an eccentric (long) spasm causing pulling forces and misaligning the areas of concern. I work the insertions of the muscles where most off the trigger points are found and I trace it to the muscle belly until a release is accomplished. This allows me to get real thorough and deep without causing further pain and leaving you sore for days. My thought is that you’re already in pain and the point is get rid of it, not add to it.

I can honestly say for the most part that I can trace it down to the root of the problem, but sometimes I see something new. That’s what makes my job a blast. I can also say respectfully that I’m not for everyone. We have amazing therapist here that are for you perhaps. If all you want is pressure I don’t work like that.

I personally like the longer sessions so I can be really thorough when it comes to deep tissue. An hour does not allow for a lot of detail and feels rushed to me.
