Carmen graduated Summa Cum Laude from Advanced Technology Institute in Dallas, TX in 2012 with the highest MBLEx licensing exam score in her 600-hour Professional Massage Therapy class and continues her education to add-value to her sessions.

Viva Las Vagus Nerve Session (90 minutes)

The "90 Minute Viva Las Vagus Nerve Session" is a special service designed to promote relaxation and activate the vagus nerve to induce a parasympathetic state of rest and digestion while reducing inflammation. The vagus nerve is a key part of the autonomic nervous system responsible for regulating various bodily functions, including heart rate, digestion, and inflammation response. It is a lighter-pressure massage with lots of nerve stroking. I encourage clients to enjoy the music and limit talking to what is necessary for the experience.

Here's a breakdown of what the session entails:

Essential Oils and Deep Breathing: The session incorporates the use of essential oils known to trigger the parasympathetic response, such as lavender, bergamot, or peppermint. These scents are likely to help in relaxing the mind and body. Deep breathing exercises accompanied by steaming hot towels can further enhance the relaxation experience.

Occipital Rocking of the Skull: This technique involves gentle rocking movements applied to the back of the skull. It aims to transport the recipient to a tranquil mental space, away from the stresses and distractions of daily life.

Cushions and Pillows Support: The client will be comfortably nestled and supported with cushions and pillows to enhance the overall comfort during the session.

Tracing the lamina groove of the spine: The therapist will perform gentle movements along the lamina groove of the spine to decrease stress levels.

Reflexology: Reflexology movements will be applied to the hands, ears, and feet. Reflexology is based on the belief that specific points in these areas correspond to different organs and systems in the body, and by stimulating these points, relaxation and improved well-being can be achieved.

Guasha Muscle Stripping: Guasha is a traditional Chinese therapy that involves gentle scraping of the skin to release tension and promote blood flow. In this context, muscle stripping with guasha supports freedom of movement and aids in balancing the nervous system.

By focusing on activating the vagus nerve, the session aims to facilitate the body's natural ability to detect inflammation and respond by inducing a parasympathetic state, which can help reduce inflammation and promote overall relaxation and well-being.

It's important to note that while this session is deeply relaxing and grounding, it is not a deep tissue massage, which is typically more intense and focuses on targeting deeper layers of muscle tissue. Instead, the emphasis is on stimulating the Vagus nerve and promoting relaxation through gentle techniques and the use of essential oils.

Aromatherapy Sea Salt Scrub on the Feet: An invigorating aromatherapy sea-salt scrub will be applied to the feet followed by a hot towel service. Choose this add-on upon checkout of select services.

Hot Stones on the back and shoulders: Hot stones help your muscles relax and feel amazing. Choose this addition to your relaxing massage upon checkout of select services, or select the premium Hot Synergy Stones that are more contoured to the body. Their heat lasts longer and these stones can cover more area of the skin and fit into those hard to reach areas more comfortably!

Hot Bamboo Sticks on the back and shoulders: Hot bamboo sticks also help muscles relax and clients love to feel them gliding over tense back and shoulder muscles. You can choose this add-on for select services upon checkout.

Cold Stones for problem areas: Cold marble stones can be added to select services to help the body manage pain from overuse, injury, and mild inflammation. You can choose this add-on upon checkout for select services. Please inform your therapist where you would like them applied on the day of your appointment. Not recommended for people diagnosed with Reynaud's syndrome.

Pain Be Gone Dream Cream:

You will love this luxurious cream, not just for its silky texture, antioxidant-rich, skin-nourishing properties, but also for its ability to help your body soothe its greatest pains. Can help with joint pain, arthritis, sprains, and other aches and pains. Filled with some of nature's finest anti-inflammatories.

Not recommended for pregnant women or those allergic to bee pollen.

Zen 4 Men Premium Cream:

Despite the name, this add-on cream is not JUST for men, but is definitely masculine. Very woodsy with a bit of citrus. Soothes and may help your body heal callouses, cracked and chapped skin and feet.

Some Essential Oils: Frankincense, Sandalwood, Palo Santo, Blue Lotus, Litsea Cubeba, Amyris, Copaiba and Balsam Fir, Black Spruce, Scotch Pine, Cypress, Coriander and Elemi with Borage Seed, hemp and Sunflower Oils as well as raw cacao and beeswax.

CANCELLATION AND 'NO SHOW' POLICY: If you need to cancel your massage appointment you can do so online at least 24 hours in advance. If under that timeframe, please contact Carmen at 540-750-6184 to discuss. Failure to cancel at least 24 hours in advance or not showing up for your appointment may require payment in full. However, she understands that things can happen outside of your control.
