Maria P. Amendolia, owner and founder of TAKE SHAPE Massage Therapy & Fitness Consulting, believes that massage is as integral as exercise to a healthy body and mind. Described as “motivational” and “inspirational” by her clients, Maria believes that everyone has it within them to become fitter, healthier and happier – and is thrilled that she can help her clients reach these goals through exercise and massage.

Maria trained at The Swedish Institute and is licensed in both New York State and Connecticut. She started a private practice in New York while continuing to study advanced techniques including Pregnancy and Postpartum Massage, and Master Neuromuscular Medical Massage. Maria also became certified as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and recently furthered her credentials by getting certified as a personal trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine. She trained with Michael Olajide, Jr. and is certified in AeroBoxing. In addition, she has been teaching group fitness classes for over twelve years. She is currently teaching sports conditioning and Latin cardio and her classes are among the most popular offerings at the Darien YMCA.
