Abdominal massage is focused on the soft tissue connections in your abdomen and thoracic area. The soft tissues between our ribs and around our organs benefit from the increased blood flow to the area. This work is especially helpful for constipation and emotional anxiety. The abdomen is also the home to a large percentage of lymphatic nodes, which help to keep us healthy. Sometimes we develop connective tissue adhesions in our abdomen due to poor posture, obesity, trauma, and surgery. This can often cause issues in organ function and interfere with signaling and blood flow. Abdominal massage is an excellent session to maintain health and healthy blood flow.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage helps to optimize the filtering system of your body. The lymphatic system is part of our immune system and the secondary site of lymphocyte production. We often consciously encounter our lymphatic system only when we are recovering from surgery or dealing with swelling (edema) from an injury. Our daily habits affect our lymphatic fluid and ability of our lymph nodes to function well. Have you ever encountered a dirty fish tank or pool? The filter is clogged or needs maintenance. Our bodies have a similar strategy for getting rid of waste. Due to sedentary modern life (smoking, junk food, not exercising, not drinking water, etc) our natural filtering system can become less functional. We do the work to help your body to optimize its abilities to filter toxins and cellular debris again. This session is essential for recovery post-surgical procedures, chronic health issues, weight loss, and healing from injuries.
