Nick Nicastro received his massage therapy education at the Ashland Institute of Massage in Ashland Oregon. Skilled in regenerative and relaxation massage incorporating connective tissue therapy, neuromuscular facilitation, myofascial release, stretching and energy balancing techniques. His holistic approach helps to encourage stress release, deep relaxation and rejuvenation.

While incorporating a number of massage modalities to help decrease pain and increase mobility caused by acute or chronic injury, Nick also applies his calming presence, attentive listening skills, gifted intuition and ability to make accurate structural assessments. These skills enable him to provide effective treatment plans which help contribute to his client’s well being. The needs and goals of each session guide Nick to exceed his client’s expectations while supporting balance through his therapeutic healing touch and deeply centered demeanor.

SAGmonkey® was established in 2005 to provide professional support and guidance to look after the training needs of pro and elite cyclists, cycling teams and assist professional coaches. His skills as a serial entrepreneur, licensed massage therapist, chef and bicycle mechanic contribute to his success as a professional soigneur.

When not working, Nick is usually taking advanced continued education classes, cycling, surfing, paddle boarding or hiking the Pacific Crest Trail.

the gift of massage

Thoughts appear in our awareness and we assume that we must believe them. Because we have been conditioned to believe that we are our thoughts, we assume that we must pay attention to every thought that occurs. But this is a false assumption. We don’t actually choose to think, our thoughts just happen, like our breathing, or our heart beating, or our blood flowing. This constant, incessant and repetitive process of thinking also causes us to abandon our bodies. So the ultimate goal is to be more aware of our thinking and then, over time, become the witness of our thoughts.

Massage certainly helps with this awareness. It helps us to reconnect with our body, feeling our breath and the sensations that happen when receiving massage. The experience of massage is our gateway into the now. It is through that present moment while on the massage table, that we can remember ourselves as the infinite and spacious presence that we intuitively know, but sometimes forget that we really are.

When receiving a massage we feel the moment directly. Through the body. Our individual self and our agendas fade into oblivion and we are just left in the moment. We become our spirit. We become our true nature. We start to feel with our heart not with our mind. The mind turns life into a bundle of thoughts, a concept, something to talk about, a place we need to get to. Massage can not be talked about - it is not be a destination. Massage is an experience, it is something we melt into.
