I became a Va Certified Massage Therapist in 2008 after completing an Associates program at Centura College, Richmond Va.
My passion in massage has always been in the therapeutic aspect of the work and the human connection. Releasing a restriction and reducing someones physical pain is just as rewarding as spending an hour of comforting touch and allowing another human being to just breathe for a short while. I believe that all forms of massage are equally beneficial- it's just a matter of finding the right mix for any given client. Every clients need and preferences are different and often change between sessions. I believe in making each massage session individualized to the need of the moment. This is why I call myself a "Specialist in Integrative Massage."

Massage Therapy
Contrary to popular belief, a Deep Tissue massage does not have to be painful to be effective, though it does tend to have a higher intensity than a Swedish. Deep Tissue focuses on a problem area to unravel the pattern of pain and dysfunction. A great option for frozen shoulder, chronic back pain, neck and shoulder discomfort from working too long at a desk, or other pain and mobility issues. Often confused with a hard pressure massage- there is a difference. Hard pressure can be done full body in a single session, true Deep Tissue focuses more time on a problem area. I can combine a focused area of Deep Tissue work with an Integrated full body session, or spend the whole time on your primary concern.
Learned as part of my Associates Degree program, I provide Sport Massage for a variety of athletic needs. Each Sport places unique demands on the athlete, and you need a therapist that can adapt to those needs. From training, to event prep, post event recovery, injury recovery and general muscle health maintenance, I use a variety of skills and experience to help you reach your best.
The relaxation staple of the massage world. Soothing, full body with a focus on achieving a deep state of bliss. Generally uses lighter pressure and longer strokes. I am a Specialist in Integrated Massage, so if you want some focus work or pain relief along with your all over 'ahhhh' experience simply ask and I will customize your session.
Thai massage! I trained with a lifelong Thai practitioner in 2014 to add the wonderful benefits of Thai massage to my clients. In a Thai session the client remains clothed and usually rests on a floor mat, the practitioner follows a sequence of rhythmic compressions and stretching- lots of stretching- to both soothe the mind and stimulate the body. Wonderful idea for increasing flexibility if you have that one Yoga post that you can't quite settle into.
I am a Specialist In Integrated Massage. This is the mix and match to meet your needs massage. Simply tell me before session what your concerns are, what type of massage you enjoy, your expectations for the experience and results and I will use any and all combinations of skill to achieve your desired outcome. Want some Deep Tissue on the shoulders, but Swedish on the legs with some Reflexology? Done. Cranio sacral and a back scrub? What ever combination works best for you.
Available upon request with any session or as a stand alone treatment. I am trained in Reiki lvl2 and Harmonic Resonance Therapy.
Learned as part of my Associates Degree program, I have a basic level of training in Vodder Lymphatic Drainage. Excellent for reducing pain and swelling of sports injuries, post surgery (especially knees and cosmetic surgeries), and in the maintenance of Lymphedema. A gentle touch is used to stimulate the flow of lymphatic fluid in the body. May provide an immune boost by enhancing the filtration through lymph nodes which are high in white blood cells- your body's main defense fighters. A good choice for those with fibromyalgia or other pain sensitivity conditions that makes a harder touch uncomfortable.
There is an ever growing population of cancer survivors and those in active treatment in need of knowledgeable and compassionate touch. I took the Basic Oncology Massage class from lighthold.org, in partnership with S4OM.org (the Society for Oncology Massage) in early 2015 at Stafford Hospital.
Ah, essential oils! Wonderful additions to a massage or used on their own. Did you know that each essential oil has its own list of uses, and cautions? This is why you should see a trained aromatherapist for your essential oil needs. I have over 100 hours of training as a Clinical Aromatherapy Practitioner in 2012. I can custom blend anything for you- either to use during your session to enhance the massage or for you to take and use at home as needed.
