I realized that I had been going about my life, not paying attention to my posture and not giving my body the work and focus it needed to maintain itself in a healthy way.
My posture was horrible - I would slouch so much I had a bump near the base of my neck. This caused the muscles in and around my neck to be constantly working, to the point that they would be overly tight and affect me so much that they were often a contributor to my migraines and tension headaches.
After I learned that paying attention to my posture and taking the time to relax the troublesome muscles, my migraines and tension headaches reduced drastically. I make sure that I get those troublesome areas worked on often so that they remain that way.
