I started out my massage career in 1998 at the famous Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, after having attended the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. I worked there for 13 years before moving to the great State of Texas in 2012. I worked first at the Lake Austin Resort, and then at the Barton Creek Resort, where I practiced my trade for five years while steadily building a private client base on the side. I still take private clients in the Barton Creek/Westlake area of Austin, but am also now working at the MedSpa Wimberley.
My style of bodywork reflects a lot of different educational influences, as well as years and years of hands-on bodywork. Back in school in 1997-8, I studied Japanese Shiatsu, in addition to the more common Swedish and Therapeutic Massage styles. At the Phoenician, I also got the opportunity to formerly study and extensively practice Thai Massage, Ayurvedic Massage (Abyanga), Reiki, and Reflexology. Later on I began to study, formally and informally, Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Cupping, and Fascia Blasting. I was blessed to have a number of colleagues who were master practitioners in these areas, and I took full opportunity to learn whatever they would teach. And I am still learning every day, from each client, and from each treatment.
Over the years I have tended to take more and more of a Western-based, 'Sports' mindset towards the solving soft tissue problems--though I still use many Eastern techniques such as pressure point work, cupping, and stretching. In the end, I think it means that I work in a way that is unique to me, a results-oriented approach which focuses on the immediate physical aliments, as well as the more subtle holistic, energetic issues.
Each client is different. Some need a gentle touch, and others a hammer and chisel. Hopefully we can work together to find and approach that is right for you.
