I would tell a friend that even when you fill out the paperwork as to what you want in the massage you need to be clear before and during the massage as to what area you want worked on. I had a deep tissue back massage and it felt wonderful, lots of tension released in my neck and shoulders but I brought up several times that my right hip was what brought me in, the massage recommended by my physical therapist to work on my right hip but it was left to the very end and barely worked on. I should have brought it up more!
