My road to massage was a long one. I grew up in Westby, WI and spent most of my youth playing sports and helping my dad with his various hobbies. He can build or fix anything and he got me working with my hands from a young age. We refinished cabinets, worked on cars, brewed moonshine, or whatever else he was into that month. Eventually I discovered the drums and that kickstarted my love of making music. I taught myself seven different instruments and have spent the last 20+ years in various bands all over the country. I'veplayed drums in the headlining polka band at LaCrosse's Oktoberfest, performed my cabaret band's rock opera to a packed theater, and heaps of awful dive bar shows.
Then one day while working as a property manager at a Bel Air mansion Imet my first massage therapist. He was a Boston guy with a thickaccent and a dark sense of humor; a complete 180 from the cliché Ihad believed. I wanted his knowledge and freedom. I wanted to work indifferent places and meet different people. I wanted to be a massagetherapist!
SoI became one and found that working on the body is a lot like playing the piano. It's all about precision and pressure, you build tocrescendos and ease into a resolution. It's kind of fun and turnedinto my newest obsession. I sought out the best teachers and startedworking at Burke Williams Hollywood where I work on about 4,000+clients in four years. At the spa I received massages from the people who regularly worked on everyone from Elon Musk to Obama. Many ofthem taught me and I learned to give the people what they want whilesneaking in the rehabilitation that they need. To further myknowledge I completed the NHI Neuromusclar program, an exhaustive, and expensive eight month program that taught me how to recognize andtreat a myriad of pain and posture issues. I also studied stretchtherapy and most importantly finally found a use for that bachelorsin Psychology.
Butin the end it all comes down to giving you what you're paying for. Tosome people I'm the guy who helps them relax, and to others I'm theelbow surgeon working out chronic pain issues. Some consider me theirfriend and other clients know literally nothing about me. I'm finewith either. But one thing is certain, if you've read this far youmight as well book a session!
